Under the educational direction 60910300 — Paediatrics, bachelor's degree training is conducted in full-time form. The standard duration of the bachelor's programme in full-time study is 6 years.

1.1. Scope of Application

1.1.1. Application of Qualification Requirements.

The qualification requirements represent a set of requirements for all higher educational institutions training bachelors in the direction 60910300 — Paediatrics.

Administrative staff and faculty of higher educational institutions responsible for developing and updating qualification requirements, curricula and programmes in this educational direction, their effective implementation in the educational process, and ensuring the correspondence of graduates' preparation level within their authority;

students of higher educational institutions mastering the curriculum and programmes of this educational direction;

state attestation commissions conducting assessment of the preparation level of bachelor's graduates;

authorised state bodies for education management;

bodies providing funding for higher educational institutions;

1.2.1. Spheres of Professional Activity.

This educational direction relates to the fields of science and healthcare and encompasses: promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the population in healthcare system institutions; prevention of the occurrence and spread of acute and chronic diseases among children and adults; development and implementation of anti-epidemic and anti-pandemic measures in the field of infectious disease prevention; solving key tasks related to patients' medical problems with wide use of modern diagnostic and treatment methods; comprehensive solution of medical and social tasks at the primary healthcare level.

1.2.2. Objects of Professional Activity.

State and non-state treatment and preventive institutions, all organisations and institutions in the healthcare sector, including primary medical and sanitary care institutions (district central multi-specialty polyclinics, family polyclinics and family physician posts), etc.

Graduates in the direction 60910300 — Paediatrics, upon completion of pedagogical retraining, are entitled to engage in teaching activities in professional educational institutions, delivering general professional and specialist disciplines as determined by the authorised education management bodies.

In accordance with the 6th qualification level of the National Qualifications Framework and the spheres, objects and types of professional activity of a bachelor in the direction 60910300 — Paediatrics, a bachelor's graduate must be capable of performing the following professional tasks:

In scientific and research activity:

participate in scientific research on modern methods of sector and field management at research institutes and centres;

study and systematise scientific and technological achievements in the country and abroad, specialist literature and other scientific and technical information devoted to ensuring modern management systems for entities at all levels of healthcare;

collect, process, analyse and systematise economic information on problems of modern management systems in sectors and fields;

participate in preparing scientific research developments and conducting expertise of industry literature;

implement research results and developments.

In medical and preventive activity:

independently develop, coordinate and conduct a complex of health improvement, sanitary-hygienic and preventive measures;

develop primary, secondary and tertiary prevention measures in the primary healthcare system;

form healthy lifestyle skills among the population and patients, increase their physical and medical activity, conduct health education work;

study and implement advanced preventive measures in the field of medical prevention;

master and assess independent practical activity as a highly qualified specialist with a full range of necessary skills in organising preventive measures in medical prevention.

In diagnostic and therapeutic activity:

be prepared to carry out a range of measures aimed at preserving and strengthening the health of children and adult patients, including promoting a healthy lifestyle, preventing the occurrence and/or spread of diseases, their early diagnosis, identifying the causes and conditions of their occurrence and development, as well as eliminating the harmful effects of environmental factors on the health of children and adults;

be prepared to conduct preventive medical examinations, medical screening, and dispensary monitoring of healthy children, adults and patients with chronic diseases;

use modern diagnostic methods;

manage and treat patients jointly with specialist physicians according to indications;

carry out anti-epidemic measures, organise the protection of the population in conditions of deteriorating radiation situations, natural disasters and other emergency situations, and in foci of especially dangerous infectious diseases;

use social and hygienic methods to collect and conduct medical-statistical analysis of data on the health status of children and adults;

collect and analyse patients' complaints, anamnesis data, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathological and other research findings to establish a diagnosis or determine the presence or absence of disease;

identify principal pathological conditions, disease symptoms, syndromes and nosological forms in patients in accordance with the International Statistical Classification (adopted by the 43rd World Health Assembly, 10th revision, Geneva, 1989) and related health problems;

participate in providing emergency medical care to patients in conditions requiring urgent medical intervention;

manage physiological pregnancies and the birth process;

use evidence-based medicine standards in professional practice;

participate in providing medical care in emergency situations, including during medical evacuation;

determine the necessity of using natural therapeutic factors, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy and other methods in patients requiring medical rehabilitation and sanatorium-resort treatment.

In organisational and managerial activity:

work in positions of department heads, assistants to chief physicians of primary medical and sanitary care institutions (district central multi-specialty polyclinics, family polyclinics and family physician posts), and assistants to first deputies of chief physicians of district and city central hospitals;

work in positions of assistants to deputy chief physicians of the scientific and practical centre of emergency medical care, the committee of sanitary and epidemiological welfare and public health, and their territorial branches;

organise and manage the work of the primary healthcare level;

compile a work plan for the activities performed and execute, monitor and evaluate the results of work completed;

implement solutions to professional problems in practice, manage quality in the production process;

plan production processes and resource use, analyse potential risks of emergency situations;

apply mechanisms for attracting investment to production and service enterprises, develop and manage investment projects.

In informational and analytical activity:

assess the effectiveness of projects;

prepare reports on the results of informational and analytical activities;

assess the effectiveness of managerial decisions.

be prepared to conduct preventive medical examinations, medical screening, and dispensary monitoring of healthy children, adults and patients with chronic diseases, as well as to carry out anti-epidemic measures and organise protection of the population in conditions of deteriorating radiation situations, natural disasters and other emergency situations, and in foci of especially dangerous infectious diseases;

use social and hygienic methods to collect and conduct medical-statistical analysis of data on the health status of children and adults;

identify principal pathological conditions, symptoms, syndromes and nosological forms in patients in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) and related health problems; participate in conducting temporary disability examinations, medical-social expert assessments, and determining biological death;

determine tactics for managing patients with various nosological forms, manage and treat patients with various nosological forms in outpatient and day hospital settings;

participate in providing emergency medical care to patients in conditions requiring urgent medical intervention, and in providing medical care in emergency situations, including during medical evacuation;

determine the necessity of using natural therapeutic factors, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy and other methods in patients requiring medical rehabilitation and sanatorium-resort treatment;

teach children and their parents (legal representatives), as well as adults, the basic hygienic measures for health protection and self-monitoring skills for key physiological indicators contributing to health preservation, promotion and disease prevention;

analyse medical information and present it on the basis of mass evidence-based medicine;

participate in scientific research;

participate in implementing new methods and approaches for protecting citizens' health.

Qualification practice is aimed at consolidating and integrating theoretical knowledge in general professional and specialist disciplines with practical (production) processes, and at developing the relevant practical skills, competencies and abilities.
