About the programme
Providing pharmaceutical care to the population, identifying and meeting consumers’ needs for medicines, medical devices, and other pharmaceutical products, as well as organizing the work of pharmacists in pharmacies of various forms of ownership, play an important role in the modern pharmaceutical system.
Pharmacy is an applied science that combines the pharmaceutical and clinical aspects of knowledge about medicines. Being a pharmacist is not only an interesting profession but also a well-paid career.
Pharmacists are needed not only in large pharmacy chains, but also in various pharmaceutical companies and their distribution organizations.
A pharmacist should be able not only to dispense medicines but also to prepare various ointments, drops, solutions, mixtures, and other dosage forms. Pharmacy is a responsible and demanding profession and, at the same time, one of the most essential professions for maintaining public health.
What subjects are taught:
First of all, a pharmacist is a specialist in chemistry. Therefore, the curriculum includes a large number of chemistry-related subjects.
For example: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Toxicological Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Among the specialized subjects, particular importance is given to Biotechnology, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical and Pharmaceutical Marketing, Pharmacy Management and Economics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Pharmaceutical Informatics.
Career opportunities:
Graduates of the program can work in pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, pharmaceutical wholesale warehouses (distribution centers), quality control and analytical laboratories, pharmacy branches, pharmacy outlets, pharmacies and medical institutions operated by ministries and government agencies, forensic medical examination bureaus, medical equipment sales organizations, drug control commissions, and customs control services.
