1. General Description

Training of bachelors in educational direction 60910100 — Dentistry is carried out in full-time form of education. The educational form is organized on the basis of a credit-module system of instruction. The standard duration of the bachelor's program in full-time study is 5 years.

1.1. Scope of Application

1.1.1. Application of Qualification Requirements

The qualification requirements represent a set of requirements for all medical and pharmaceutical higher educational institutions training bachelors in educational direction 60910100 — Dentistry.

1.1.2. Primary Users of Qualification Requirements:

Management staff (rector, vice-rectors, head of the registrar's office administration, deans and heads of departments) and teaching staff of the higher educational institution responsible for developing and updating qualification requirements, curricula and course programs in this educational direction, for the effective organization and renewal of the educational process based on them, and accountable for the level of graduates' preparation within their competence;

students of the higher educational institution mastering the curriculum and course programs of this educational direction;

State Attestation Commissions conducting assessment of the level of bachelor's graduates' preparation;

authorized state bodies for education management;

bodies providing financing for higher educational institutions;

authorized state bodies for accreditation and quality control of higher education;

organizations and enterprises — personnel customers and employers;

applicants entering higher educational institutions, their parents and other interested persons.

1.2. Description of Professional Activity

1.2.1. Spheres of Professional Activity:

Educational direction 60910100 — Dentistry belongs to directions in the field of science and healthcare. It encompasses a complex of professional spheres, including solving core tasks in healthcare system institutions with wide application of modern methods for diagnosing and treating dental diseases among the population, improving the quality of methods and approaches for providing dental care and dispensary observation (therapeutic-preventive, medico-social), participating in research work at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and scientific research centers, scientific-production associations, as well as solving complex tasks in state and non-state medical institutions.

In the direction, additions and changes in the spheres of professional activity of bachelors are possible, based on modern achievements in science, technology and techniques, as well as requirements of personnel customers.

1.2.2. Objects of Professional Activity:

General practice dentist in all state and non-state medical institutions of the healthcare system.

Graduates of the bachelor's program in educational direction 60910100 — Dentistry, after completing bachelor's education in the given scientific field, have the right to engage in pedagogical activities in teaching general professional and specialized disciplines at vocational education institutions determined by authorized education management bodies, provided they complete pedagogical retraining.

1.2.3. Types of Professional Activity:

  • medical and preventive;
  • emergency and urgent medical care;
  • diagnosis and treatment;
  • rehabilitation;
  • medico-social;
  • scientific and research activity.

In the direction, additions and changes in the types of professional activity of bachelors are possible, based on modern achievements in science, technology and techniques, as well as requirements of personnel customers. Specific types of professional activity of bachelors trained in this educational direction are determined by the medical and pharmaceutical higher educational institution together with interested participants of the educational process.

1.2.4. Professional Tasks.

In accordance with the 6th qualification level of the National Qualifications Framework, as well as the spheres, objects and types of professional activity of bachelors in educational direction 60910100 — Dentistry, the bachelor's graduate must be capable of performing the following professional tasks:

In organizational and managerial activity:

know current issues of civil society, have an active life position based on the development strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

systematically possess philosophical knowledge of a worldview nature, be able to independently analyze and take them into account in professional activities;

know the history of the Fatherland, be able to express and scientifically substantiate one's position on issues of spiritual national and universal human values, have an active life position based on the idea of national independence;

understand the essence of documents and work related to professional activities in one of the foreign languages, possess the necessary knowledge within the scope of professional activity in natural science disciplines and apply them in life and professional activity on a modern scientific basis;

possess methods of collecting, storing, processing and using information, be able to independently make well-founded decisions in professional activities;

have competitive general professional preparation in the relevant bachelor's direction;

be able to independently master new knowledge, work on self-improvement and organize labor activity on a scientific basis;

organize the introduction of innovations in the field into practice;

have a scientific understanding and conviction about a healthy lifestyle and the need to adhere to it, possess skills and abilities of physical self-improvement;

organize and manage work in therapeutic and preventive institutions of the primary level of the healthcare system;

improve healthcare management in line with socio-economic development trends;

have the ability to plan, analyze and prepare reports on the main indicators of the state of public health.

In medical and preventive activity:

organize and implement measures for health protection, promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the population, as well as dental culture, sanitary-hygienic education, rational nutrition, combating harmful habits, improving the health of adolescents, protecting the health of mothers and children;

develop primary, secondary and tertiary prevention measures in the primary level of the healthcare system;

implement measures to prevent dental diseases common among the population;

conduct preventive and targeted medical examinations with the aim of early detection of chronic dental diseases, implement general medical check-ups of the population;

introduce advanced and modern technologies into medical and preventive activity.

In emergency and urgent medical care activity:

timely identify emergency conditions;

provide emergency medical care at the pre-hospital stage;

provide emergency dental care to the population at the pre-hospital stage;

possess the ability to issue a referral for hospitalization based on indications.

In diagnostic and treatment activity:

early detection of dental diseases among the population;

application of modern diagnostic methods in the work of a general practice dentist;

correct treatment of common dental diseases using modern methods;

examination and treatment of patients together with specialists based on indications;

possess the ability to apply evidence-based medicine standards in professional activity.

In rehabilitation activity:

correctly determine indications and contraindications, as well as the timing of rehabilitation measures for dental diseases;

implement rehabilitation measures in full scope;

possess the ability to apply modern rehabilitation methods for patients.

In medico-social activity:

organize and provide types of medico-social services in cooperation with social protection bodies and charity services;

possess the ability to restore and develop physical, medico-social and psychological well-being among the population.

In scientific and research activity:

participate in conducting scientific research work on topics related to information protection at research institutes and scientific centers;

study and systematize scientific and technological achievements in the country and abroad, specialized literature and other scientific and technical information dedicated to ensuring modern management systems for entities at all levels of healthcare;

carry out collection, restoration, analysis and systematization of economic information on problematic topics in the field of ensuring modern management systems for industries and sectors;

purposefully search for and find information about the latest scientific achievements on the Internet;

conduct experimental research at research institutes and scientific centers, process and evaluate their results and perform other types of professional activity;

possess the ability to conduct activities related to participating in the implementation of research results and developments.

2. Requirements for Professional Competencies:

be able to assess morphofunctional and physiological states and pathological processes in the human body to solve professional problems;

possess skills in using medical instruments and equipment provided for in the delivery of medical care;

know pathological processes in the human body and possess the ability to assess morphofunctional and physiological states for solving professional problems;

readiness to use medical instruments provided for during procedures, and to provide medical care to patients with dental diseases;

readiness for the medical use of medicines and other substances, ability to apply substances and their combinations in solving professional problems;

ability and readiness to implement a set of measures aimed at preserving and strengthening health, forming a healthy lifestyle, preventing the occurrence and spread of dental diseases, their early diagnosis, identifying the causes of their occurrence and development, as well as eliminating the harmful effects of environmental factors on human health;

readiness to analyze and present medical information to the public based on evidence-based medicine;

ability and readiness to conduct preventive medical examinations, dispensary registration and dispensary observation of patients with dental pathology;

ability to apply social and hygienic methods of collecting information about dental diseases and their medico-statistical analysis;

ability to determine the presence or absence of disease or dental pathology in a patient based on the patient's complaints, medical history data, examination results, laboratory, instrumental, pathoanatomical and other studies;

ability to identify the main pathological conditions, signs, syndromes and nosological forms of dental diseases in patients in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems;

readiness to conduct examinations of temporary disability, participate in medico-social expertise and determine the biological death of a person;

determine the management strategy for patients with various dental diseases;

readiness to manage and treat patients with dental diseases in outpatient and day hospital settings;

readiness to participate in providing medical care in emergency situations, including participation in medical evacuation;

readiness to determine the necessity of applying natural therapeutic factors, medicamentous and non-medicamentous therapy and other methods for patients with dental diseases requiring medical rehabilitation and sanatorium-resort treatment;

readiness to educate the population on the main physiological indicators of self-monitoring that contribute to preserving and strengthening health, on basic hygienic health improvement measures, and on the prevention of dental diseases;

readiness for educational activities on eliminating risk factors and developing healthy lifestyle skills;

ability to apply the basic principles of organization and management in the field of public health, in medical organizations and their structural units;

readiness to participate in assessing the quality of dental care using the main medico-statistical indicators;

possess the ability to plan, coordinate and control the process of developing and implementing new methods and approaches aimed at protecting the dental health of the population.

3. Requirements for Practical Training

Qualification practical training is aimed at consolidating theoretical knowledge in general professional and specialized disciplines, integrating it with practical (production) processes, and forming the appropriate practical skills, competencies and qualifications. The following types of practical training are conducted in this educational direction:
