Philology and Language Teaching: German Language

1. General Description
The preparation of bachelors in the field of education 60230100 - Philology and Language Teaching is carried out in full-time and evening forms of education.
The normative duration of the undergraduate program in full-time education is 4 years.

1.1. Scope of Application
1.1.1. Application of Qualification Requirements.
Qualification requirements represent a set of requirements for all higher education organizations training bachelors in the field of education 60230100 - Philology and Language Teaching.
1.1.2. Main Users of Qualification Requirements:
• Management personnel (rector, vice-rectors, head of the academic department, deans, and heads of departments) and the professor-teaching staff of higher education institutions who are responsible for developing and updating qualification requirements, curricula, and syllabi, ensuring the effective implementation of the educational process based on them, and who are responsible within their competence for the level of preparation of graduates;
• Students of the higher education institution who are mastering the curriculum and syllabi of the field of education;
• State Attestation Commissions evaluating the preparation level of undergraduate graduates;
• Authorized state bodies for educational management;
• Bodies providing funding for higher education organizations;
• Authorized state bodies that accredit and control the quality of the higher education system;
• Personnel customers, employer organizations, and enterprises;
• Applicants entering higher education institutions, their parents, and other interested persons.

1.2. Description of Professional Activities
1.2.1. Spheres of Professional Activity.
It covers a complex of professional fields related to teaching foreign languages in preschool, general secondary, secondary special, and professional education organizations, state and non-state institutions; operating as a specialist in the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sectoral research institutes; translation/interpretation activities in government bodies, local and international organizations; operating in civil society institutions, mass media, and publishing houses.
1.2.2. Objects of Professional Activity.
Government bodies, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sectoral research institutes, mass media and publishing houses, preschool, general secondary, secondary special, professional education organizations, state and non-state educational organizations, enterprises, institutions, and companies (firms) as a philologist or pedagogue (for the main and second language).
1.2.3. Types of Professional Activities:
• Pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical in educational institutions;
• Translation and interpretation;
• Organizational and managerial;
• Journalism, publishing, and editing in mass media;
• Scientific research;
• Consulting services.

1.2.4. Professional Tasks.
In accordance with the 6th qualification level of the National Qualifications Framework for the field of education 60230100 - Philology and Language Teaching, as well as the spheres, objects, and types of professional activities of a bachelor, the undergraduate graduate must be capable of effectively performing the following professional tasks:

In pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical activities in educational institutions:
• Teaching the native language and literature, as well as the main and second foreign languages learned in educational institutions corresponding to the specialization of continuous education;
• Conducting non-traditional training sessions using modern information and pedagogical technologies;
• Compiling, preparing, and processing educational-methodological documents required for conducting training sessions on the taught subjects;
• Utilizing didactic teaching tools to conduct training sessions on the taught subject;
• Teaching foreign languages in an intensive format (short courses);
• Regularly improving pedagogical activity on the taught subject through independent education and scientific-creative research.

In translation and interpretation activities:
• Providing translation and interpretation from foreign languages in state and non-state organizations;
• Working as a clerk or referent in the fields of education, culture, tourism, various state institutions, hotels, joint ventures, and firms;
• Performing technical and other types of translation;
• Working as a manager and administrative staff in hotels and travel agencies;
• Carrying out translation and interpretation activities at international conferences and events.

In organizational and managerial activities:
• Developing and implementing quality management processes for philological activities;
• Being able to express and scientifically justify one's opinion on issues of spiritual, national, and universal values, having an active life position based on the idea of national independence;
• Organizing and managing various events, conferences, and educational conversations related to the native language and Romance-Germanic languages;
• Developing monitoring and quality assessment mechanisms related to the creation and use of information technology systems in Information Resource Centers (IRC);
• Organizing and managing social, spiritual, and educational work in a team;
• Compiling a work plan for the ongoing activity, monitoring, and evaluating the results of the work performed.

In journalism, publishing, and editing activities in mass media:
• Carrying out journalistic and editorial work in mass media;
• Having the skill to independently prepare articles, TV programs, and radio broadcasts;
• Performing proofreading and editorial activities on artistic and scientific works, field-related brochures, and monographs in the publishing and editing sphere;
• Acting as a translator and literary worker in publishing institutions.

In scientific research activities:
• Conducting experiments and processing their results according to standard methods as a junior research fellow or researcher-applicant in research institutes of the philological field;
• Conducting experimental research on standard methodologies and innovative teaching methods and developing recommendations based on their results;
• Participating in the preparation of scientific research developments and the expertise of field literature;
• Developing scientific information, compiling abstracts and bibliographies on the topics of ongoing research;
• Participating in scientific seminars and scientific-practical conferences as a speaker, discussion participant, and referent;
• Preparing articles and reviews for journals related to the field;
• Purposefully searching the Internet for information on the latest scientific, literary, and linguistic news, and new pedagogical technologies;
• Solving professional activity issues within the team of a scientific research and educational institution.

In consulting service activities:
• Conducting expertise of projects, sources, literature, electronic video, and audio products on topics within the field;
• Having the ability to provide consulting services in areas corresponding to the specialization;
• Being able to give a systemic and functional description of languages with various scopes of use in the country;
• Being able to analyze current and historical literary processes and artistic works belonging to various genres in professional activity.

2. Requirements for Professional Competences
The graduate must:
• Know the priority directions of state policy, independently analyze socio-economic problems and processes;
• Have the skills to search for, analyze, and use regulatory legal documents in professional activities;
• Understand the essence of documents and tasks related to professional activity in the languages learned, possess necessary knowledge in natural and scientific disciplines within the scope of professional activity, and be able to use them on a modern scientific basis in life and professional activity;
• Know how to apply information technologies in professional activity, master the methods of gathering, storing, processing, and using information, and be able to make independent justified decisions in professional activity;
• Be able to independently acquire new knowledge, work on oneself, and organize work activity on a scientific basis;
• Know the phonetics, lexicology, morphology, and syntax of the language being studied, as well as the development of word meanings;
• Have the skill to teach the native language and literature, as well as the learned main and second foreign languages in educational institutions corresponding to the specialization of continuous education;
• Conduct non-traditional training sessions using modern information and pedagogical technologies;
• Compile, prepare, and formalize educational-methodological documents required for conducting training sessions;
• Conduct experimental research on standard methodologies and innovative educational technologies and develop recommendations based on their results;
• Have the skill to prepare articles and reviews for field-related journals;
• Have the skill to purposefully search for information about the latest scientific, literary, and linguistic news, and new pedagogical technologies;
• Provide translation/interpretation from foreign languages in state and non-state private organizations;
• Have the ability to perform technical and other types of translation;
• Work as a manager and administrative employee in hotels and travel agencies;
• Organize and manage various events, conferences, and educational conversations related to the languages of one's specialization;
• Carry out journalistic and editorial work in mass media, independently prepare articles, TV programs, and radio broadcasts;
• Perform proofreading and editorial activities on artistic and scientific works, brochures, and monographs in the publishing and editing sphere;
• Work as a translator and literary worker in publishing institutions, as a tour guide and research fellow in archives and museums, and organize field-related work processes;
• Have the ability to provide consulting services in areas related to teaching the main and foreign languages and translation activities;
• Be able to carry out translation/interpretation activities and tour guide accompaniment in various organizations, service in airlines, and manager services in various firms and hotels;
• Possess knowledge in Uzbek linguistics, general linguistics, the Old Turkic language, the history of the Uzbek language, Uzbek folklore, Uzbek dialectology and lexical analysis of dialect texts, the modern Uzbek literary language, the history and theory of Uzbek literature, textual criticism, Navoi studies, world literature, foundations of scientific research, sociolinguistics, Uzbek terminology, Uzbek lexicography, comparative-historical grammar of Turkic languages, be able to perceive current issues of literature, apply them in scientific activities, and convey them to students;
• Possess the qualifications and knowledge to study the development principles of the history of modern Uzbek literature, the factors, patterns, and specific features that brought about the literature of the period; determine the main directions of the development of Uzbek literature; highlight current issues such as general theoretical and methodological problems of comparative literature, Uzbek classical literature, comparative mythology and folklore, the study of Uzbek literature in the context of world artistic thought, Uzbek and world literary relations, translation studies, and translation criticism; have information about Turkish, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Turkmen literature, be aware of the life and work of literary figures, folklore, and samples of written literature of these peoples; form a critical view through researching the activities of critics, writer-critics, and issues of genres and styles in literary criticism;
• Know the organization and assistance in conducting the educational process in institutions of the continuous education system, participation in research, data collection, generalization, and analysis, mastering and implementing modern pedagogical and information technologies;
• Know the objects, subject, goals, and tasks of general professional and specialized disciplines, phenomena, and processes, and utilize them productively in scientific research, and have the ability to acquire additional deep knowledge;
• Possess skills in developing and implementing prospective plans, main achievements, and problems in the spheres of professional activity in accordance with the field of education;
• Determine the place of the literature of the language being studied in world literature and its contribution to human development; be able to separate the national features of Eastern literature from the traditions of world literature; differentiate issues of literary influence in Eastern countries, know how to apply their main methods and techniques;
• Know the history, geography, economic, socio-political system, international relations of the country of the language being studied, and its geopolitical place in the world community;
• Possess scientific knowledge, practical mastery, and skills regarding the general theory of pedagogy, the teaching process, the educational, upbringing, and developmental tasks of teaching; scientific character, consistency, compatibility, creativity, and other principles in education; motivation in the educational process; teaching methods, tools, and technologies; general and specific methods; general pedagogical technologies; educational system management; pedagogical mastery; general psychology; branches of general psychology; developmental and pedagogical psychology; psychology of managing learning and knowledge acquisition; education and mental development; methods and forms of upbringing; personality qualities of a future teacher;
• Foreign language communicative-professional competence implies the ability and readiness to carry out communication in a foreign language with native speakers, as well as to introduce students to the culture of the countries of the language being studied, to better understand the culture of one's own country, and to be able to demonstrate it in the process of communication.

The main task of these qualification requirements implies the improvement of the following competences in students:
• Linguistic competence – refers to knowing information about the language (phonetics, vocabulary, grammar) sufficiently to communicate with native speakers and mastering types of speech activity (listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing).
• Socio-linguistic (speech) competence – enables the speaker to choose the necessary linguistic form and method of expression based on a certain speech situation, communicative goal, and desire.
• Discursive competence (discourse is an oral or written text) – involves knowing the linguistic, stylistic, and structural characteristics of oral and written texts to correctly interpret and construct a text, as well as to choose a corresponding type of speech communication.
• Strategic (compensatory) competence – refers to the ability to compensate for insufficient language knowledge, as well as deficiencies and defects in speech and social communication experience in a foreign language environment using certain verbal/non-verbal means, to repeatedly ask back, apologize, etc., when misunderstandings arise in a communicative situation, escaping from difficult situations.
• Socio-cultural competence – involves knowing the national characteristics of authentic speech: customs, values, ceremonies, and other national-cultural characteristics of the country one lives in and the ability to present them in comparison with the country of the language being studied.
• Social competence – manifests itself in the learners' understanding of the importance of learning a foreign language in today's multicultural world; forming and developing the need to use a foreign language as a means of communication, comprehension, independent work, and social adaptation; nurturing civic and patriotic qualities; and the desire and willingness to carry out intercultural communication through a foreign language.
• Learning-cognitive competence – is a set of competences of the learner in independent knowledge acquisition activity for learning foreign languages and cultures, including logical, methodological, and learning activity elements associated with using real objects of knowledge and modern educational technologies.

3. Requirements for Practices
Qualification practice is aimed at strengthening theoretical knowledge in general professional and specialized disciplines and integrating them with practical processes, forming relevant practical skills, competences, and qualifications.
