About the programme
The establishment of the Faculty of General Medicine at Urgench State Medical Institute is closely connected with the significant reforms aimed at developing higher medical education in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Establishment of New Higher Educational Institutions” dated February 28, 1992, Resolution No. 125 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated March 11, 1992, and Order No. 171 of the Ministry of Health dated March 20, 1992, the Urgench Branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was established.
On September 2, 1992, the Faculty of General Medicine commenced its activities within the structure of the Urgench Branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute.
According to the Presidential Decree of May 31, 1995, and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated June 3, 1995, the branch was incorporated into Urgench State University, where a Medical Center was established. Subsequently, in accordance with Resolution No. 239 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated June 3, 1998, the Medical Center of Urgench State University was reorganized and granted the status of an independent higher educational institution. As a result, the activities of the Urgench Branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute were restored.
In accordance with Presidential Decree No. PF–3629 “On the Establishment of the Tashkent Medical Academy” dated July 19, 2005, and Resolution No. 178 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated July 29, 2005, the Tashkent Medical Academy was established on the basis of the First and Second Tashkent State Medical Institutes. Consequently, the Urgench Branch of the First Tashkent State Medical Institute was renamed the Urgench Branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy.
The Faculty of General Medicine was established in 1992, and its development has been supported by a number of experienced and distinguished leaders:
• 1992–1994 – Professor S.M. Masharipov;
• 1994–1995 – B.A. Khitoyatov;
• 1995–2011 – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor R.B. Abdullayev;
• 2011–2012 – Candidate of Medical Sciences R.Yu. Ruzibayev;
• 2012–2015 – Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor B.S. Yuldashev;
• 2015–2022 – Candidate of Medical Sciences O.O. Masharipov;
• From 2022 to the present – PhD in Medical Sciences, Associate Professor A.Kh. Allanazarov.
Today, the Faculty of General Medicine consistently carries out activities aimed at training highly qualified physicians in accordance with modern medical education standards, promoting scientific research, and enhancing the spiritual and intellectual development of students. The Faculty occupies an important place in preparing qualified healthcare professionals for the national healthcare system.
