The First English Faculty

Faculty History:

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. Karimov dated December 10, 2012, No. 1875, "On measures to further improve the system of foreign language learning" and the Resolution dated May 23, 2013, No. 1971, "On measures to improve the activities of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages," the First and Second Departments of English Philology were established, and based on these, the First, Second, and Third English Language Faculties were created. Currently, the faculty has 4 specialized departments and 2 non-specialized departments, with over 174 professors and teachers.

Faculty Achievements:

On March 14 of this year, the Department of Practical English Linguistics №1 and the Department of Integrated English Course №1 jointly organized a Republican Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic "Methodological Foundations of Language and Language Education Research."

The Navruz holiday, which embodies the ancient values and noble aspirations of our people, was celebrated at the faculty with a series of events. On March 18, a festive event was held, showcasing the traditional dishes and customs of the Samarkand region. The participation of students was actively ensured during the festival.

English Language Faculty №2

Faculty History:

The English Language Faculty №2 was established based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 23, 2013, No. PQ-1971 "On measures to improve the activities of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University". Initially formed as the Third English Faculty, it was renamed to the Second English Faculty by the University Council decision on August 28, 2019.

International Cooperation:

The faculty maintains active partnerships with universities in the USA, Japan, China, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, including Indiana University, Dokkyo University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Ankara University, and others.

In accordance with the decisions of the first president of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 1875 of December 10, 2012 “on measures to further improve the system of learning foreign languages”and No. 1971 of May 23, 2013 “on measures to improve the activities of the State University of world languages”, the third Faculty of English was established under the University of 2021. There are currently 4 specialist departments in the third Faculty of English, with about 100 faculty members. Of these, 8 have Candidate of science (PhD) degrees.

In order for students to form independent educational skills, the faculty operates 6 computer rooms connected to the internet, as well as an Information Resource Center.

Faculty of English Philology

The Faculty of English Philology at Uzbekistan State World Languages University was established in 2019.

Currently, more than 4,000 students are studying at the faculty in both full-time and evening programs. A total of 118 professors and teachers with academic degrees, titles, and international foreign language certificates are delivering lectures. Among them are 4 Doctors of Philological Sciences and 14 PhD holders.

Faculty of Oriental Philology

The Faculty of Oriental Philology was established based on Order No. 318 dated July 29, 2021, by the Rector of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages. Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology

History of the Faculty:

The Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology was established on the basis of the faculties of German, French, and Spanish Philology in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. PQ-1875 dated December 10, 2012, “On Measures to Further Improve the System of Learning Foreign Languages,” and Decree No. PQ-1971 dated May 23, 2013, “On Measures to Improve the Activities of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University.”
Since September 2, 2017, the faculty has included the undergraduate program "Philology and Language Teaching: English Language," and since October 27, 2023, the evening courses in Philology and Language Teaching (German, French, and Spanish) have also been incorporated.

Faculty of Russian Philology

History of the Faculty:
In 1992, following the merger of the Tashkent Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages and the Republican Institute of Russian Language and Literature, the Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU) was established. The Faculty of Russian Philology began operating as part of this new institution.

Since its foundation, the faculty has played an important role in training highly qualified specialists for higher, secondary specialized, vocational, and general education systems, as well as for other sectors of society.

The faculty continues the traditions of training professionals in Russian philology, combining long-standing experience with modern teaching methods and academic research.

Faculty of International Journalism

Established in 1999 under the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, the Faculty of International Journalism has become a pivotal institution for training professionals in international journalism.

History:
Established in 1994, the Translation Faculty was founded to meet the increasing demand for qualified translators in various sectors of the national economy and international relations.

Die Übersetzungsfakultät wurde 1994 gegründet, um dem wachsenden Bedarf an qualifizierten Übersetzern in verschiedenen Bereichen der Volkswirtschaft und internationalen Beziehungen gerecht zu werden.

Faculty of Evening and Correspondence Education has been operating since 2024. The number of students is 1607. Qualified professors and teachers work at the faculty. Graduates work in public schools, higher education institutions and various international diplomatic missions and organizations.
