About the university
The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) was established on September 23, 1992 and was included in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is a basic higher educational institution that provides training, retraining and advanced training for specialists and scientific and pedagogical personnel, conducting high-level fundamental and scientific and applied research in the following areas:

The main tasks and activities of the university:
Quality training of international experts in the field of foreign policy and foreign economic activity of the republic based on the use of advanced foreign experience, including modern innovative, pedagogical technologies and scientific developments, effective coordination of the activities of educational and research institutions of the republic;
To deepen the independent preparation of students, to strengthen the practical content of educational plans and programs aimed at ensuring the formation and development of analytical thinking, stable professional skills, high spiritual, moral and patriotic qualities, and the practical orientation of the educational process;
To create an effective system of retraining international personnel and improving their qualifications in order to form a constantly updated reserve of promising personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other interested ministries and agencies;
Fundamentally increase the effectiveness of fundamental and applied research aimed at developing international relations, cooperation with foreign partners, systematic evaluations and prospects for the development of the country's foreign policy and foreign economic activity;
Training of highly qualified and scientific-pedagogical personnel in priority areas of international relations;
Organization of training of qualified professional translators and guides in official meetings aimed at providing high level support to official events and delegations of foreign countries, using modern methods and means of training.
Education
The university has about 2,000 students (undergraduate and graduate), including international students from Canada, Japan, China, Korea, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan.
The composition of university professors and teachers is 160 of which 17 are professors, 17 are doctors of science, and 52 are candidates of science.
Foreign professors and teachers from leading educational institutions of countries such as Great Britain, Japan, Korea, and Poland are invited to the educational process on a permanent basis. Among the professors, representatives of the largest universities of Germany, USA, Spain, France, Great Britain, Slovakia and other countries visit and give lectures.

Admission Requirements for Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs
To apply for a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at UWED, international students must meet the following criteria:
Language Proficiency: A minimum IELTS score of B2 in English or an equivalent score in another internationally recognized English language exam. Alternatively, B2-level proficiency in Uzbek or Russian is also acceptable.
Motivation Letter: A personal statement in English that outlines your academic interests and motivations for studying at UWED.
Curriculum Vitae (CV): A current CV detailing your academic background, skills, and extracurricular activities.
For Master’s Degree: A relevant Bachelor’s degree diploma from an accredited institution.
Admission Process
The admission procedure is carried out in two stages:

Visa Application Support
UWED provides assistance with the visa application process. However, students are required to cover the visa fee. The visa application and associated fees should be confirmed with the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). The processing time for a visa is typically between 10–15 days. From February 21 to March 14 of this year, a delegation of Japanese students consisting of 10 people visited UWED as part of cooperation between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (Japan).
Students from leading Japanese universities such as Waseda University, Hokkaido University and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies took a Russian language course. In turn, UWED students studying Japanese introduced the guests to the culture and traditions of the Uzbek people, and also held a master class on cooking national dishes of Uzbekistan.
The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) held a welcoming meeting with a group of students from the University of Salento (Università del Salento, Lecce, Italy), who arrived in Tashkent as part of a student exchange program. The meeting was organized by the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages together with the UWED Office for International Academic Cooperation.
In November 2024, four UWED students have already completed a month-long study at the Università del Salento, where they studied the Italian language and various specialized disciplines, as well as got acquainted with the academic and cultural life of the University. Currently, three students from Lecce are making a return visit to UWED, who will study the language for a month, as well as get acquainted with the university curriculum, participate in projects and student initiatives.

With 4 European universities: University of Castile-La Mancha (Spain); Lund University (Sweden); University of Padova (Italy); The Iasi University named after I. Cuza (Romania) is actively cooperating through educational projects "Erasmus +" aimed at expanding academic exchange. On this basis, a large number of UWED students got the opportunity to study at partner universities, and from foreign universities they were able to take part in exchange programs while studying at UWED. The University of World Economy and Diplomacy has established partnerships with more than 60 leading foreign universities by signing 24 memorandums, 22 agreements, 12 agreements and 2 protocols between partner universities.
In order to further improve the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of world politics and economy, international relations and diplomacy, international law and foreign trade, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit in October 2018 of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin to the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 4171 dated February 11, 2019: “On the organization of the activities of the branch of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation” in the city of Tashkent”.
The main activities of the Branch are:
- providing targeted training of highly qualified international specialists in demand in practice according to programs of advanced higher education, capable of solving the most important political, economic, legal and other tasks, representing and actively promoting the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the international arena;
- development of a system for training specialists and scientific personnel based on the principle of continuity and succession of education and science, as well as mandatory harmonious integration into the world educational and scientific community;
- development and implementation of new educational programs and forms of education aimed at improving the system of training personnel in the areas of international political, diplomatic, legal, economic and trade relations;
support for the development of pedagogical potential, active use of modern highly effective pedagogical methods and teaching technologies.
Currently, 27 foreign students and undergraduates from such foreign countries as Canada, Japan, China, Korea, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan are studying at UWED.
Foreign professors from leading educational institutions of Great Britain, Japan, Korea, Poland are invited to the educational process at UWED on a permanent basis. Among the professor visiting lectures are given by representatives of the largest universities in Germany, the USA, Spain, France, Great Britain, Slovakia and many other countries.
It has become a good tradition to hold lectures and speeches of the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations at the University, to organize international conferences and round tables with their participation. On a regular basis, various cultural events are held at the University (days of national culture, days of foreign languages) with the assistance of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tashkent.

Faculties
The faculty studies the history of diplomacy of Uzbekistan, the history and theory of international relations, political sciences, foreign policy, geopolitics, security theory, international law, the world economy and international economic relations, the culture of various countries and regions, as well as applied and special disciplines of professional training necessary for future diplomats.
The faculty and graduates of the faculty are actively involved in research activities within the scientific and professional division of the UWED - the Institute for Advanced International Studies and the Diplomatic Academy. Thus, the Faculty of International Relations organically combines educational and research activities, implements in practice the integration of education and science.
Graduates of the faculty make up the main backbone of young specialists in international affairs and political scientists who are annually hired on a competitive basis to work at the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at research and analytical centers, etc. They also work in various state organizations: ministries and departments, international, public and political organizations, private structures.
The sphere of international relations today is a very important component of the modern world, and there is a constant shortage of qualified specialists. Bachelor's programs in the areas of "International Relations" and "Political Science" allow students to acquire the necessary skills to work in this area.
After graduating from the faculty, wide opportunities open up for a diplomatic, research and teaching career. The Faculty of International Relations is the main unit of the UWED in the training of international specialists and political scientists for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its foreign agencies. Its graduates make up the main backbone of young specialists who are annually recruited on a competitive basis to work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
FEATURES OF THE FACULTY
A number of key advantages can be identified in the program "International Relations" and "Political Science":
1. Interdisciplinary character. Students study the disciplines of historical, political science, economic, legal and cultural cycles.
2. The combination of the theoretical base of training with applied analytical activities.
3. At 3-4 years of study, students are offered professional and undergraduate practice at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, leading scientific and analytical centers, specialized departments of state authorities, foreign embassies and representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
4. Students can get involved in project activities, which can be both research and practical - in the form of Start-Up, fulfillment of various orders for third-party organizations.
5. There is a system of support for national and international academic mobility for students. Students can take one or more internships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, leading scientific and analytical centers, specialized departments of government bodies, foreign embassies and representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan and foreign universities.
FEATURES OF THE TEACHING OF COMMUNICATION TOOLS
Knowledge of foreign languages allows a graduate of the faculty to become a highly qualified specialist in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. Faculty students have the opportunity to study 11 foreign languages, including European and Oriental. A faculty student must know at least two foreign languages. They study two foreign languages for four years:
the first language is the one they chose upon admission: English, French, German;
the second language is optional, along with European (French, German, Spanish, Italian,) mainly oriental languages: Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, Dari, Pashto.
In addition, a number of theoretical and special disciplines of the professional cycle are read in English, which ensures freer communication and perception of foreign speech.
Fluency in the main language and mastery of a second foreign language is achieved as a result of regular classes. Although undergraduate graduates do not receive diplomas of professional translators, in most cases they are not inferior to graduates of philological faculties in terms of the level of foreign language proficiency. When it comes to complex political negotiations, public speaking sometimes even surpasses them.
DEVELOPMENT
The faculty constantly focuses on ongoing transformations in international relations and political sciences. The subjects of study are adapted to the study of political realities and research and pedagogical innovations. Recently, under the influence of the discussion around the issues of methods for studying international relations, applied interdisciplinary research in the field of foreign policy began to develop. Applied research has aroused interest from practical organizations. The results of predictive and analytical developments of the departments, published in the scientific press, are also of interest to foreign specialists. This gave impetus to the introduction of the results of theoretical and applied political science developments into the educational process in the form of special courses on international relations. New forms and methods of training have become widespread: modular and distance learning, value orientation, case studies, role-playing and business games, reflection and rotation methods, brainstorming, consulting, participation in official events, and the use of digital technologies.
In the studies conducted by the teaching staff, the foreign policy of countries and international political situations were studied from the standpoint of an interdisciplinary approach. Thus, the beginning of the politological direction of scientific work at the UWED was laid as a field of study of political processes using complex methods and techniques.

The Faculty of International Relations trains bachelors in the following educational areas:

Bachelors who have completed professional training in the educational areas "International Relations" and "Political Science" can continue their studies in the magistracy in the following specialties:
- 70310802 - "International Relations and World Politics";
- 70310701 - "Applied Political Science" for up to two years.
In addition, the bachelor has the opportunity to continue his studies in the prescribed manner as a senior research fellow-applicant of an independent applicant in the following specialties:

- 23.00.04 - Political problems of international relations, global and regional development.
Faculty graduates defend PhD and Ds doctoral dissertations in political sciences, thereby replenishing the team of highly qualified specialists in international affairs and political scientists.

"International relations"
The International Economy and Management Faculty was established on October 23, 1995. The main objective of the faculty is to train highly qualified personnel in the fields of international and regional economics, finance, marketing, management and economic diplomacy for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade as well as embassies of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad and all organizations of our Republic working in cooperation with foreign countries. Today, it is one of the largest educational and research units in the field of international economics in Uzbekistan.
Faculty of "International Economics and Management" from the very beginning trains bachelors in "World Economy and International Economic Relations (by regions and activities)". A Master's degree was established in 2000, and since 2015 the Faculty has provided Master's degrees in World Economics and Foreign Economic Activities. The duration of training for Bachelors is 4 years, and for Masters - 1 year. The students of this faculty occupy leading positions in both public institutions and the private sector.
Field of education
The Bachelor of World Economy and International Economic Relations can conduct the following professional activities within the bounds of fundamental and special internship: an attaché, a legal assistant, an inspector in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an expert in Economics in the Ministry of Foreign Trade, an international economist at joint ventures, a manager, a marketing specialist;
within the bounds of organizational and managerial activities: a specialist in securities, a dealer in financial and bank organizations, an accountant, an auditor;
within the bounds of research activities: analysis and preparation of necessary materials regarding the studies of main issues of international economic relations
Teaching methods
Learning process is accompanied by both the most effective and contemporary pedagogical technologies and traditional methods. The lessons are conducted by professors, experts and leading specialists of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Graduates
Since the foundation of the faculty in bachelor’s field of the «World Economy and international economic relations» the University of World Economy and Diplomacy have released more than 1000 specialists.
The curriculum includes the following major subjects: World Economy, International Economic Relations, International Economic Integration, Finance, International Currency and Credit Relations, International Business Strategies, Strategic Management, Marketing.
The faculty trains specialists for the following organizations:
- government institutions conducting diplomatic and foreign economic activities;
- international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations;
- representative offices of international financial and bank institutions;
- companies and organizations conducting foreign trade activities.
Currently in the faculty the following departments carry out their activities: the Department of World economy and International economic relations, the Department of International finance and investments, the Department of International economy, the Department of Systematic analysis and mathematical modeling.
The Faculty of "International Law" was established in 1996 and is a structural structure of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy that implements undergraduate and graduate educational programs and research activities in the fields of national and international law.
The Faculty of "International Law" currently offers the bachelor's degree "60420100 - Jurisprudence (by types of activity)", as well as the "70420103 - International Law (by fields)" and "70420109 - International Business Law" master's degrees is training highly qualified personnel.
In order to organize educational programs efficiently and at a high level, the educational process is conducted with the active involvement of qualified local and foreign teachers. In particular, the faculty regularly conducts short-term training and guest lectures with the participation of professors and teachers from the world's leading partner foreign higher education institutions (for example, the University of Pennsylvania and John Hopkins University in the United States, the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom, Lund University in Sweden, and the University of Bern in Switzerland). lectures are organized. Also, the leading practitioners of our republic, working in courts, law enforcement agencies, bar structures, justice system bodies, and private structures, are widely involved in the training of specialized subjects.

Currently, the department of "International Law and Public Law" and "Civil Law and Private International Law" departments, as well as the University Legal Clinic are operating on the basis of the faculty.
