A Leader in Specialized Education and Science in Central Asia
 The Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry (TITLI) is the premier recognized research and educational center in this field within Central Asia. Over its more than 90-year history, the Institute has trained tens of thousands of highly qualified specialists for key economic sectors, including cotton ginning, textiles, and light industry.
 Our researchers and graduates do not merely work in the industry - they drive its development. The Institute plays an active role in advancing progressive enterprises, optimizing management, enhancing product quality, and boosting labor productivity. It is within our walls that engineering solutions are born, unique inventions are patented, and technologies are created that are implemented daily at the region's leading enterprises.

How did it all begin?
 The history of the institute is inextricably linked to the industrialization of the region. In the 1920s, large-scale construction projects got underway in Uzbekistan, including the Tashkent Textile Combine, the Fergana Textile Factory, wool factories in Bukhara, Samarkand, and Margilan, the "Atlas" silk association, and numerous garment and footwear manufacturing facilities. An urgent need arose for a skilled local workforce.
 Initially, specialist training was conducted within the Department of Primary Cotton Processing at the National University of Uzbekistan (established in 1927), and from 1929 onwards, at the Textile Faculty of the Central Asian Polytechnic Institute.

From Initial Faculties to Recognition
In September 1932, an independent institute was officially established on this foundation. Two faculties began operations during the first academic year:

• Primary Cotton Processing
• Mechanical Technology

They provided training in four key areas: primary cotton processing, weaving, spinning, and silk technology. Amin Rakhmatullaev, a prominent figure in public education, became the institute's first rector. The institution’s first student body consisted of 125 individuals.

The Institute developed rapidly:
1933: The Central Asian Institute of Mechanics and Technology merged with the institution, enabling the graduation of its first qualified engineers.
1935: A landmark four-story academic and laboratory building (now Academic Building No. 2) and a student dormitory were commissioned.
1940: The Institute strengthened its infrastructure and faculty through a merger with the Tashkent Industrial Academy. By this time, the institution had become an international hub, attracting students from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, as well as from countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
1962: By the institute's 30th anniversary, the student body had reached 4,000 (a 32-fold increase since its founding). Following the introduction of new fields of study, the institution adopted its current name: the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry.
By the 1980s, the number of faculties had risen to six (including evening and correspondence departments), with instruction provided across 13 fields of study and 21 specialties within 38 departments.

Continuity of Generations
 The institute's leaders made significant contributions to its development. Over the years (from 1932 to 2020), the position of rector was held by: F. S. Kungurtseva, N. I. Truevtsev, S. N. Nusratov, A. K. Inoyatov, Z. A. Abdullaev, M. A. Khozhinova, T. R. Rashidov, B. G. Kadyrov, M. F. Akhmedov, Kh. A. Alimova, A. P., A. P. Parpiev, K. J. Dzhumaniyazov, S. Z. Yunusov, B. O. Onorboev, I. K. Sabirov.
The founders of scientific schools and the creators of specialized departments were outstanding scientists: B. A. Levkovich, M. T. Orazboev, A. Alimov, N. N. Nazarov, K. M. Mansurov, M. R. Razzakov, G. Yu. Jabbarov, S. K. Kurbanov, Yu. K. Kyrgyzbaev, G. I. Boldinsky, R. G. Makhkamov, M. M. Marupov, S. Kh. Khusniddinov, M. M. Mukhamedov, M. Sh. Todzhiev and many others.

A New Era
 With the Republic of Uzbekistan gaining independence on August 31, 1991, the institute entered a qualitatively new phase. The educational process was completely depoliticized, freed from outdated ideological constraints, and restructured based on national values ​​and advanced global standards.
 The institution’s primary objective became the cultivation of a generation of free-thinking professionals capable of working effectively within a market economy. Thanks to the support of the country's leadership and reforms implemented under the Law on Education, the institute transitioned to an international two-tier system of professional training:

The first class of Bachelor’s degree graduates completed their studies in 2000.

The first Master’s degree graduates completed their studies in 2001.

 To ensure educational continuity and the selection of talented youth, an academic lyceum was established at the institute, admitting over 200 gifted students annually.

TITLI Today: Technologies and Global Recognition
 Today, the institute comprises 4 faculties and 17 departments. We train highly sought-after Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates for a wide range of industries:

• Textile and light industry (spinning, weaving, knitting, garment, and footwear manufacturing).
• Cotton ginning and silk industries.
• Mechanical engineering, as well as the chemical, printing, and paper industries.
• The economic sector.

Digital Infrastructure
 The Institute boasts a modern computer center and an inventory of over 700 up-to-date computers linked via a unified network with high-speed Internet access. This enables the active implementation of distance learning technologies and the integration of advanced international information resources into the educational process.

International Cooperation
 TITLI is a respected participant in the global scientific and educational community. The Institute is a member of prestigious international organizations such as the Textile Academy, the Association of Printing Educational Institutions, and the Silk Association.
Strong partnerships have been established with more than 20 leading foreign universities, including:

• Ghent University (Belgium);
• Berg University of Applied Sciences (Germany);
• Piraeus University of Applied Sciences (Greece);
• Leading technological and textile universities and academies in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ivanovo, and Kostroma).

 Over the years of collaboration, more than 400 students and faculty members from TITLI have undergone training and internships at major educational centers in the USA, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Greece, India, and South Korea. This integration has resulted in our specialists successfully defending over 30 doctoral dissertations. The institute’s innovative developments receive active support through government grants and are being implemented at leading domestic and international enterprises.

 Foreign nationals are admitted based on an interview, without entrance exams.
We provide excellent conditions for students' academic success and all-round development:

• Visa support: we assist with visa processing and registration of residence;
• Academics and research: students can conduct research in modern educational and scientific laboratories and make free use of the university library’s extensive collections;

International Cooperation at the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry
 Developing mutually beneficial relationships with leading foreign universities, research institutes, educational centers, and state foundations is a top priority for our institute. We actively leverage international opportunities to continuously enhance the quality of education.
 The Department of International Cooperation at TITLI supports and advances cutting-edge global initiatives. The department’s activities are aimed at strengthening the institute’s global standing, showcasing its significant potential, and achieving new strategic goals.

Our key areas of activity include:

• International partnerships: establishing and developing ties with foreign universities, research centers, and international organizations;
• Hosting delegations: organizing visits and meetings for international colleagues;
• Academic mobility: coordinating trips abroad for the institute’s leadership, faculty, staff, and early-career researchers, as well as developing student exchange programs;
• Academic events: organizing international conferences, symposiums, seminars, and webinars;
• Internationalization of education: engaging foreign professors and specialists in the institute’s educational process;
• Fostering an inclusive environment: comprehensive support for international students, doctoral candidates, and researchers.

 To date, TITLI successfully collaborates with over 80 foreign universities, associations, and organizations. Our partnership network spans countries such as Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, India, Turkey, the USA, the UK, France, Canada, Latvia, Belarus, CIS nations, and many others.
The Institute maintains effective cooperation in education, science, and innovation, working closely with foreign embassies and friendship societies accredited in Uzbekistan. We ensure rigorous oversight of the implementation of all joint agreements and support the active participation of TITLI representatives in the activities of international partner organizations.

Our strategic goals include:

1. Expanding horizons: developing bilateral and multilateral partnerships with leading global universities;
2. Global initiatives: advancing joint projects in research, education, and service with the support of international agencies and foundations;
3. Quality and adaptation: providing students with world-class educational programs and assisting international students in rapidly integrating into the Institute’s academic environment;
4. Information support: raising awareness among students and staff about prestigious international scholarships, grants, and programs offered by the "El-yurt Umidi" Foundation, Erasmus+, USAID, KOICA, GIZ, DAAD, and other financial and academic institutions.

 The professional training of young people, the creation of optimal conditions for their scientific endeavors, and their engagement in fields that make a significant contribution to the national economy and are in high demand on the global industrial market have today become a matter of state policy.

 In particular, we have launched an Open Day to showcase our institute's academic and technical capabilities to the younger generation and to foster their interest in science.

 The Department of Chemical Technologies kicked off the series of educational outreach events. Professors and faculty members gave prospective students a detailed overview of the institute’s facilities and introduced them to our teaching staff.
