How to Apply (General Process)

Exact requirements and deadlines vary by programme and nationality — confirm directly with admissions before submitting documents.

1. Choose your programme and apply online via PTU's official admissions page.
2. Submit transcripts — secondary school certificate or prior degree, translated where required.
3. Show English proficiency if your prior education wasn't in English (IELTS or equivalent is standard; ask whether PTU accepts an internal test).
4. Receive your offer/invitation letter from PTU.
5. Apply for a Type D student visa at your nearest Uzbekistan embassy or consulate using that letter — processing typically takes 1–2 weeks.
6. Arrange a medical certificate and a passport valid 12+ months before travel.

PTU welcomes students and staff from all over the world, and the International Affairs Office (IO) is your first point of contact for everything cross-border: visas, arrival logistics, accommodation, and the dozens of small questions that come with moving to a new country.

Alongside the IO, the International Student Support (ISS) team focuses specifically on immigration. They check your visa documents against the requirements of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior before you submit anything — so issues get caught early, not at the border.

Visa & Registration

PTU's visa support follows the official PTU Visa and Registration Regulations (VRR). The process, step by step:

1. Apply to a PTU programme through the online application form.
2. Accept your unconditional offer.
3. Contact the International Office — they'll walk you through the Uzbekistan visa process and help you find housing.
4. Apply for your visa at the nearest Uzbekistan Embassy or Consulate. Required documents and fees vary by nationality and location, so IO confirms the exact list for your situation.
5. No embassy nearby? If your country has no Uzbekistan Embassy or Consulate, you can get a visa on arrival at the international terminal of Tashkent Airport.

Arrival & Accommodation

• Airport pickup — IO runs a dedicated pickup service, so your first stop in Uzbekistan isn't a taxi negotiation.
• Housing, handled — PTU allocates accommodation for international students and checks in with you regularly throughout your stay.
• On the horizon — a dedicated guest hotel inside the "Biopharma City" cluster, built specifically for international visitors, staff, and students.

Two Things Not to Forget

• ⏱ Register within 72 hours. Uzbek law requires international arrivals to register with local Migration Authorities within 72 hours — IO will guide you through this, but the clock starts the moment you land.
• 🧾 Keep your customs declaration. You'll fill one out on arrival and need it again when you leave — don't lose it in a suitcase.
