About the university
Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh as one of the centers of science, education, upbringing, spirituality, sport and culture, serves for even greater prosperity and development of our Independent Republic. The university is considered one of the main educational institutions for the preparation of highly qualified specialists, which form the main force of a society with highly intellectual abilities, consciously perceiving the ongoing socio-economic changes in the world and the state, spiritually rich young people.
During its 43-year history, the university has become one of the leading universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Outstanding results were achieved in the field of education, the development of science, the enrichment of the spiritual world of young people, education in the spirit of patriotism, and loyalty to national values and national culture. Paying attention with a sense of pride and gratitude to the educational history of the establishment, its current state, the progress achieved, it is necessary to recall people who, through their hard work and continuous research, made a great contribution to the development and organization of the university.
The rapid development of the economy and culture of the republic, the need for specialists in various fields increased the requirements for opening Karakalpak State University. The question of the transformation of Karakalpak State Pedagogical Institute into Karakalpak State University was raised in the late 1950s. The question of opening of Karakalpak State University on the basis of the Pedagogical Institute was raised at the 16th conference (11-12 January 1958) of the committee of the regional party of Karakalpakstan by the rector of the pedagogical institute, academician S. Kamalov.
Starting from the second half of the 1960s, the leaders of the government of Karakalpakstan began to organize the university on the basis of a pedagogical institute. As a result of the labor-consuming actions of the leaders of the Republic and the administration of the Pedagogical Institute, the adoption of the Decree of the Central Committee of February 26, 1974 “On the opening of Nukus State University” was achieved. On the basis of this Decree, the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the former Union was announced in 1974, on May 7 of the same year – the Order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, May 21 – Decree of the Government of Uzbekistan. On June 14, 1974, the Government of Karakalpakstan adopted the Decree “On the organization of Nukus State University”

Berdakh Karakalpak State University invites foreign citizens to study for the 2025-2026 academic year.
It is announced that foreign citizens will be admitted until August 10, 2025. Foreign citizens can apply for 83 bachelor's degree programs at the university. Applicants are admitted based on an interview.

Procedure for accepting and processing applications and requests for visa extension.
For foreign citizens engaged in labor activities in enterprises and organizations (visas type B-1, B-2 and E), the following documents should be submitted to the Migration and Citizenship Service:
- visa application in 2 copies, certified with the signature of the head and seal on the company letterhead;
- organization certificate;
- foreign citizen's passport and passport copy;
- copy of the application (telex) submitted by the enterprise, organization or institution to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan regarding the invitation of a foreign citizen to the Republic of Uzbekistan (for first-time extension);
- power of attorney issued by the organization to the responsible person for processing and submitting documents, and a copy of their passport.
In addition to these documents, if available, a confirmation of the right to work (license) for persons carrying out labor activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan, or an accreditation certificate for representatives of foreign missions that have received permanent accreditation in the Republic of Uzbekistan should be submitted.

Opportunities for students
Currently, the university has about 3,200 active students who, together with the heads of departments, are engaged in research work.In the 2023/2024 academic year, 32 students became winners of state scholarships, including 1 student became the winner of state scholarships of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 8 students named Navoi, 3 students named Beruni, 2 students named Ulug-Bek, 1 student named Islam Karimov, 1 student named Ibrahim Yusupov, 1 student named student Taliburgen Kayipbergenov, 1 student Babur, 1 student Pahlavan Mahmud became the winners of state scholarships. This year, at the Muhammad al-Khorezmi International Mathematical Olympiad, held in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, students of our university won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals, taking 1st place in the team competition.
N.Kokanova Nursulu Denis bay Kizi was born on September 18, 2002 in Kegeylinsky district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. 3rd year student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Berdakh Karakalpak State University. He actively participates in all classes, receives unique grades.During her studies, Kokanova shows and implements great initiatives among young people. N.Kokanova actively participates in regional and national competitions and subject Olympiads.N.Kokanova became the winner of the republican stage of the "young reader" competition in 2018, and was awarded a presidential gift - a Spark car.

Dauletova Gulistan O'temisovna
Dauletova Gulistan Otemisovna was born on November 20, 1958 in the village of Shakhaman in the Chimbay district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in a working-class family.
He graduated from high school in 1976. In 1978, he joined the English Department of the Faculty of Romano-Germanic Philology of the Nukus State University. In 1983, he graduated with honors from the same specialty and in the same year was hired in the specialty at school No. 27 at the Nukus city Department of Public Education.
