Bukhara State Medical Institute: Visa Procedure for International Students

1. Admission to the Institute and Receiving an Invitation

Before starting studies in Uzbekistan, an international student must complete the following steps:

  • Submit an online application via the official website of the Institute or through the International Department.

  • Provide a copy of the passport, diploma or school certificate, medical certificate, and language proficiency certificate (if required).

  • After reviewing the documents, the Institute prepares an Admission Letter and sends it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Uzbekistan.

  • Once approved by the MFA, the visa support invitation is forwarded to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the student’s country.

2. Applying for a Visa at the Embassy

The student must visit the Embassy or Consulate of Uzbekistan in their country and submit the following:

  • Invitation letter from the Institute

  • Valid passport (with at least 6 months validity)

  • Visa application form (usually completed online by the host institution)

  • Photo (size 3.5x4.5 cm)

  • Consular fee (visa fee)

3. Entry into Uzbekistan and Registration

After obtaining the visa, the student travels to Uzbekistan.
Within 3 working days of arrival, the student must register at their place of residence (dormitory or other housing). This temporary registration (OVIR) is handled through the Institute’s International Department.
Student visas are usually issued for a minimum of 6 months and can be extended based on the duration of the academic program.

4. Visa Extension

If the student continues their studies, they must apply for a visa extension at least 20 days before the visa expires by contacting the Institute’s visa office.
The Institute submits a request for extension to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After approval, a new visa is issued, allowing the student to legally continue their studies.

Note:

  • For citizens of some countries with a visa-free regime (e.g., Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), the process may be simplified. However, temporary residence registration is still mandatory.

  • For any visa-related questions, students are advised to contact the International Relations Department of the Institute.

Inoyatov Amrillo Shodiyevich

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the excellent and quality education I received during my years of study at the institute. The passionate faculty, comprehensive curriculum, and hands-on clinical experiences provided a solid foundation for my career in surgical dentistry. The focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills has played an important role in shaping my professional journey. Looking back on my time as a student, I am pleased to see the growth and development of the Surgical Dentistry program over the years. Incorporating modern technologies and advances in dental surgery into the curriculum reflects the program's commitment to staying abreast of the latest developments in the field, and I believe there are still areas where the program can continue to improve and grow. In addition, I suggest that the institute explore ways to increase alumni engagement and foster a sense of community among alumni. As a graduate, I am ready to contribute to the success and development of the Bukhara State Medical Institute "Surgical Dentistry" program.
