About the university
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 8, 2025, No. 279 "On the Establishment of the Almalyk State Technical Institute," the Almalyk State Technical Institute was established on the basis of the Almalyk branch of the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.
The Almalyk State Technical Institute has three faculties: "Mining," "Metallurgy and Chemical Technologies," and "Energy and Mechanical Engineering." The faculties train specialists in such areas of undergraduate and graduate education as Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Metal Technologies, Mechanical Engineering, Technological Machines and Equipment, Mining, Mining Electrical Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Exploration and Prospecting of Mineral Deposits. The institute also has evening and correspondence departments, where about 5,709 students are currently studying.
Currently, an advanced engineering school "GeoMetTech," specializing in geology, metallurgy, and engineering, is being established at the institute. Students with high academic performance will be selected on a competitive basis to study at this engineering school and will be trained based on specialized practice-oriented educational programs.

They were provided by the institute with opportunities for quality education, a modern hostel with comfortable conditions, the use of an Information Resource Center, participation in sports clubs and the full use of scientific and practical laboratories for the development of their scientific research.

In order to effectively use the existing capabilities of higher educational institutions of the Tashkent region, introduce modern pedagogical technologies into the educational process, raise the process of training highly qualified engineering and technical personnel based on advanced foreign experience to a new level, and further strengthen the material and technical base of higher educational institutions, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 8, 2025 No. PP-279 "On Measures to Improve the System of Training Engineering and Technical Personnel for Industrial Production Sectors of the Tashkent Region," the Almalyk State Technical Institute was established on the basis of the Almalyk branch of the Tashkent State Technical University.
The Faculty of "Metallurgy and Chemical Technologies" was established at the Almalyk branch of the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov in accordance with the decision of the Council No. 10 dated June 14, 2022. From September 5, 2022 to the present day DSc. D.Kh.Mirkhamitova is the Dean of the Faculty.
The "Department of Metallurgy" was established on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of the Tashkent State Technical University dated 07.08.2017 No. 10. The Department of Metallurgy has been allocated 19.75 staff positions this year. Currently, the main staff includes 1 professor, 1 head of department, 1 associate professor, 3 associate professors, 2 senior lecturers and 7 assistants, 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 senior lecturers, 5 assistants on an internal part-time basis, 1 professor, 1 senior lecturer on an external part-time basis. The Department of "Social and Humanitarian Sciences and Physical Education" is a non-specialized department based on the decision of the Academic Council of the Tashkent State University of Law No. 10 dated 08.07.2017. At the branch level, classes are held for students of all fields in the disciplines "Modern History of Uzbekistan," "Philosophy," "Professional Psychology," "Religious Studies," "Engineering Psychology."
