Technological machinery and equipment

The Mining Machinery and Equipment specialisation is designed to train specialists in the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of machinery and equipment used at mining enterprises.

Students study the design and operating principles of mining machinery, mechanical equipment used in open-pit and underground mines, hydraulics, electric drives, machine components, strength of materials, technical diagnostics, equipment reliability and maintenance management.

Special attention is given to excavators, drilling rigs, mining transport, crushing and conveyor equipment, hoisting systems, pumps and mine ventilation systems.

Practical training includes equipment calculation and selection, technical condition assessment, maintenance and repair planning, fault diagnosis and the solution of problems related to the productivity, safety and reliability of mining machinery.

Graduates may work as mechanics, mechanical engineers, mining equipment operation and maintenance specialists, technical diagnostics specialists, service engineers, production planners and managers of maintenance departments.
