Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies
Mining, processing techniques and technology of rare and radioactive metal ores
About the programme
The bachelor’s program “Technology of Processing and Extraction of Ores of Rare and Radioactive Metals” is focused on studying the full cycle of obtaining valuable metals from natural raw materials — starting from geological exploration and ore extraction to ore processing, chemical and metallurgical refining, and final metal recovery. Students learn about crushing and grinding processes, physical and chemical separation methods, technologies for extracting rare metals such as lithium, tantalum, and niobium, as well as the specifics of working with radioactive elements like uranium. Significant attention is also given to industrial safety, environmental protection, and radiation control, since working with such materials requires strict adherence to technological and ecological standards.
This field is suitable for people who are interested in chemistry, physics, and engineering, and who want to work in high-tech industrial sectors. It is a good choice for those drawn to mining, energy (including nuclear energy), metallurgy, and the production of strategically important materials used in electronics, aviation, and space technology. Graduates can work at mining and processing plants, research institutes, nuclear fuel cycle facilities, or in environmental monitoring, where precision, responsibility, and an understanding of complex technological processes are essential.
