About the programme
70230101 – Linguistics (Russian Language). This Master's degree programme covers the range of professional fields associated with conducting independent scholarly research grounded in the theoretical and applied problems of Russian linguistics: an in-depth study of the phonetic-phonological, morphological, word-formation, syntactic and semantic systems of the Russian language; comparative-typological research on Russian and Uzbek; the history and present-day state of Russian; sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics and discourse analysis; corpus and computational linguistics; the theory and practice of translation from and into Russian; and the modern methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL). Graduates may work as lecturers and senior lecturers of Russian language and literature at higher education institutions, as researchers at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sectoral research institutes, as methodologists and experts at Russian language teaching and certification (TORFL) centres, as translators and language consultants in state administration bodies and local and international organisations, as editors and proofreaders in publishing houses and mass media, and may also continue their academic careers in doctoral studies (PhD).
