About the department

 

Department of "Geology, prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits". The training of geological personnel in Central Asia began in the 20s of the 20th century, with the establishment of the mining department and the department of "Mining-exploration works" within the technical faculty of the Turkestan State University. The department was headed by professor M.M. Protodyakonov. N.V. Shabarov (1928-1929) and B.N. Nasledov (1930) conducted the "Intelligence Methods" training course.

In 1930, a number of faculties of the university were separated as an independent institute. The Central Asian Geological Research Institute (SAGRI) was established on the basis of geological and mining departments. The "Intelligence Affairs" department was headed by N.V. Shabarov, B.N. Nasledov, and from 1931 by associate professor A.K. Kargin. From 1936 to 1941, P.A. Shechtman worked as the head of the department. In 1941-45, the department was headed by prof. Directed by W. M. Kreiter. Later, A.V. Korolev, A.M. Gabrielyans and P.A. Shekhtman worked as department heads.

Since 1961, Prof. N.A. Nikiforov was in charge.

Many graduates of the department are working effectively in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Caucasus countries, as well as regions of Russia such as the Urals, Siberia, Kamchatka, Kolyma. Many of them have achieved great success in the field of production and science, and are working in leading positions of enterprises and organizations, institutes and laboratories. Among the graduates of the department are E.A. Radkevich, head of the department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, corresponding member, A.K. Sobakin, head of the Chotkal expedition of the "Tashkentgeology" trust, H.M. Abdullayev, V.G. Gorkovech, A.A. Petrenko, V.E. Poyarkov, I.S. Sokol, V.A. Talalov, K.B. Shulyatnikov, V.M. Starting from September 2008, the former "Minerals" department, which was headed by famous scientists A.V. Korolev, H.M. Abdullayev and H.N. Boymuhamedov for many years, joined the "Minerals Geology and Prospecting" department.

There were frequent changes in the leadership of the department: in 1988-1990, associate professor A.Kh. Boymukhamedov; In 1991-1996, associate professor B.A. Isakhodjayev; Associate Professor M.A. Mirusmanov in 1996-1997; In 1997-2000, associate professor K. Khudoykulov; in 2001-2007 academician Kha.A. Akbarov; In 2007-2009, Professor B.A. Isakhodjayev; In 2009-2012, senior teacher S.T. Sodikov; Associate Professor A.A. Abdurakhmanov in 2012-2015; In 2015-2016, associate professor H.S. Khodjayev; Associate Professor O.T. Rozikov in 2016-2018, Associate Professor M.A. Mirusmanov in 2018-2019; In 2019-2020, associate professor B.N. Urunov led the department.

Since the first years of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the department, as in the entire higher education system of the Republic, has been undergoing a radical reorganization of the educational process. The structure and content of curricula and standards are being changed, a new step is being taken in the organization of the educational process and scientific research. The main efforts are focused on fulfilling the tasks of the "Law on Education" of the Republic of Uzbekistan, training personnel taking into account the requirements of certain sectors of the national economy.
