About the department
The department was one of the first when the Central Asian Cotton Irrigation Polytechnic Institute was opened in 1929. The professor of the "Hydraulic engines" department M.Ya. Founded under the leadership of Gromov. Later, the department was named "Hydropower devices and hydromachines".
In 1934-1942 and 1945-1969, the department was headed by Professor I.YA. Kaminsky, and in 1943-1945, head of the Department of "Usage of Water Energy" of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, which was evacuated to Tashkent during World War II, prof. A.A. The Morozovs ruled. In 1969-1984, in the department, Ph.D., Assoc. V.I. Semenido and in 1984-1996, Ph.D., Assoc. M.A. Khusanov was in charge. Since 1996 and now the department is headed by Ph.D., prof. M.M. Muhammadiyev is leading. From 2002 to 2010, he worked as vice-rector for educational affairs and academic lyceums and colleges of ToshDTU.
In 1946, the specialty "Hydropower Devices" was reopened, and since 1951, the department began training engineers in this specialty. 8 researchers worked in the department. 3 of them are PhD, professors and 4 PhD, associate professors. The following employees worked in the department for many years: Assoc. B.S. Bachelis, Assoc. O.N. Lyamin, Assoc. N.N. Omelin, Assoc. S.V. Novokshonov, Assoc. N.P. Shevchenko, Ph.D., Prof. V.A. Orlov, Assoc. A.A. Volodin, cat. bullet E.E. Adamets and others.
The department has a complex laboratory in which more than 2,500 students are trained annually on the courses of hydropower plants, pumping stations, hydraulics and hydromachines. Educational and scientific-research works are also carried out in these laboratories.
The department continues its relations with major design and research institutes and organizations of the CIS. Major scientists from production and FA institutes of the Republic of Uzbekistan were involved in the training process. From 1997 to 2007, the chief engineer of "Tashkent Hydroelectric Cascade" K.J. Avazov, since 2000, director of the Institute of Water Problems of the Federal Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ph.D., prof. E.J. Makhmudov, head of the laboratory of the Institute of Physics and Technology, Ph.D., prof. R.R. Avezov, head of the laboratory of the Akademasbob Institute, Ph.D., prof. Sh.I. Kh.R. Klichev, chief engineer of the State Technical Development and Production Department of "Uzbekenergo". Kurbanov and Ph.D. K.D. Potaenko (until 2006) and others.
Since the opening of the "Hydropower Devices" specialty, ToshPI has supplied more than 2,000 Hydropower engineers, who are currently working in Central Asia and the CIS countries.
The department has established scientific-pedagogical relations with the leading universities of the CIS countries. The following departments are examples of these: St. Petersburg Polytechnic University named after Peter the Great - head of the department, academician of the FA of Russia, Ph.D., prof. Yu.S. Vasiliev, Minister of "Energy and Electrification", academician of the FA of Russia, professor of the Moscow Institute of Energy, Ph.D. P.S. Neporojnie and others.
