The General Medicine (Therapeutic Medicine) undergraduate program is a field within healthcare aimed at advancing medical science, developing professional competencies, and enhancing managerial effectiveness. The program encompasses a comprehensive set of methods, tools, and approaches intended to train highly qualified medical specialists.
This discipline is one of the most prestigious areas of medical education, and Uzbekistan has a century-long history of training professionals in this field.
Program Objective
To provide students with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in fundamental, pre-clinical, and clinical medical sciences, and to train competent general practitioners.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the six-year curriculum, graduates receive a General Practitioner (GP) diploma.
Graduates may pursue further studies in master's programs or clinical residency across more than 70 medical specialties.
Undergraduate Curriculum
Years 1–2: Medical and biological sciences — human anatomy, medical chemistry, medical biology, histology, normal physiology, introduction to the medical profession, and related courses.
Years 3–4: Pre-clinical and clinical disciplines — pathological anatomy, pathological physiology, pharmacology, Propaedeutics of internal diseases and pediatrics, pediatrics, hematology, medical psychology, and others.
Years 5–6: Specialized medical disciplines — hospital surgery, hospital therapy, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, psychiatry, clinical pharmacology, surgical diseases, internal diseases, and related fields.
Postgraduate Specialization Opportunities
Graduates may continue their studies in specialties including: obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, internal medicine, otorhinolaryngology, cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious diseases, dermatovenereology, neurology, oncology, psychiatry, surgical specialties, instrumental and functional diagnostics, neurosurgery, healthcare management, medical psychology, urology, morphology, narcology, anesthesiology and resuscitation, traumatology and orthopedics, family medicine, forensic medicine, pathological anatomy, emergency medicine, pharmacology, among others.
Master’s and clinical residency programs require a minimum of two years of study.
Additionally, graduates may conduct scientific research as independent researchers in accordance with established regulations.
