Intellectual Triumph at the Crossroads of the Silk Road: SIUT Students Achieve International Recognition

Today’s global ideological and economic landscape is not merely a technological race; it is, above all, an arena for intercultural dialogue and intellectual diplomacy. In this regard, the solemn ceremony held on May 16 at the Confucius Institute in Tashkent was not only a moment to celebrate winners, but also another stellar demonstration of the intellectual prowess of Uzbek youth. The event marked the announcement of the regional stage results of the 25th anniversary of the “Chinese Bridge” International Competition and the “Silk Road Bonds: Me and China” Short Video Contest, both held with the esteemed support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uzbekistan.

For a quarter of a century, the “Chinese Bridge” competition has served as one of the world's most prestigious global mega-projects, uniting thousands of talented individuals worldwide around a shared vision. The requirements of the competition extend far beyond basic language skills—demanding profound rhetorical eloquence, a subtle grasp of Eastern philosophy and culture, and highly advanced creative analysis.

It is a matter of great pride that within this distinguished geopolitical and cultural space, students from the EPE (Energy Power Engineering) program at the Chinese Institute of Engineering of our university outstandingly defended the honor of SIUT and achieved exceptional results.

The short video project was aimed at strengthening friendship ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and China, fostering youth creativity, and promoting the ideas of cultural cooperation across the Great Silk Road. In their videos, our students masterfully unlocked the history, culture, traditions, and contemporary global significance of the Silk Road, as well as joint projects between the youth of both nations through compelling visual narratives. According to the jury's decision:

Timur Tairov and Alina Sabirova secured the honorable 2nd place;

Karim Khakimov, Davlat Fazliyev, Ruslan Timurov, Amirbek Khusainov, and Firdavs Jamshedov won the 3rd place;

Ramiz Ulmasov was honored with the “Most Exemplary Video” special award for his uniquely creative approach.

SIUT students further demonstrated their supreme intellectual caliber in the intense and uncompromising contests of Chinese language and public speaking:

Shakhzod Shakhobov and Shokhrukh Sayfiyev claimed the prestigious 2nd place, receiving special prizes from the Embassy of the PRC in Uzbekistan;

Notably, Shokhrukh Sayfiyev successfully advanced to the final stage of the competition, demonstrating an outstanding level of language proficiency. It is worth mentioning that Shokhrukh had also successfully participated in this renowned competition last year, earning a one-time scholarship from the PRC Embassy;

Abdulaziz Bazarov secured the honorable 3rd place and was also presented with an award by the Chinese Embassy.

Diplomats and members of the academic community attending the ceremony unanimously emphasized that such achievements are by no means a coincidence. Rather, they are the tangible, practical results of the international educational model established at SIUT and the fundamental knowledge instilled in students by nearly fifty international professors hailing from over ten countries. This landmark success serves as a powerful springboard for our students toward building global careers and conquering the pinnacles of world science.

On behalf of the university leadership, faculty, and the entire student body, we wholeheartedly congratulate our winners on this grand triumph and wish them continued success in the arena of global science!
