Cooperation with Shanghai International Studies University Continues to Expand

A delegation led by Ms. Yin Dongmei, Secretary of the University Council of Shanghai International Studies University of the People's Republic of China, visited the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages.
The meeting was attended by Mr. J. Nasrullayev, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation; Mr. B. Berdialiev, Head of the International Cooperation Department; Mr. A. To‘xtamishov, Head of the Department of Chinese Philology; Professor Sh. Safarov; and Mr. Xiang Wei, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the Institute.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the current state of cooperation between the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and Shanghai International Studies University, the activities of the Confucius Institute, and priority areas for future collaboration.
The parties also reviewed the achievements accomplished in 2025, the report covering the first half of 2026, and the action plan for the second half of the current year.
They further discussed creating the necessary conditions to ensure the successful work of Chinese specialists who are expected to join the Confucius Institute and the Department of Chinese Philology during the 2026/2027 academic year.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reached agreements to support the China–Uzbekistan Intercivilizational Research Center operating under the Institute, implement joint research projects, and attract external research grants.
The Center serves to strengthen scientific, cultural, and educational cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, promote joint research initiatives, enhance the professional development of academic staff, and foster wider awareness of the rich cultural heritage of both nations.
