About the university

Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages (ASIFL) is located in the center of Andijan city and is one of Uzbekistan’s leading higher education institutions specializing in language education, international cooperation, and cultural exchange.

The institute was established in 1963 as the Andijan Pedagogical Institute and has evolved into a modern educational institution that meets international standards. Its primary mission is to prepare globally competitive professionals who can contribute to international cooperation, intercultural dialogue, and innovative development.

ASIFL provides students with a modern and innovative learning environment, enabling them to acquire not only strong language proficiency but also the intercultural and professional competencies necessary for success in the global labor market. The institute offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese, German, French, Turkish, Arabic, and Russian languages. Advanced pedagogical approaches and digital technologies are widely integrated into the educational process.

Today, the institute consists of 4 faculties and 10 academic departments. More than 4,000 students are enrolled in various fields of study. Among them are over 50 international students pursuing bachelor's and master's degree programs.

The institute employs nearly 200 professors and instructors. Among them are 11 international professors and teachers who make valuable contributions to education and research activities. The academic qualification rate of the faculty is 70 percent, reflecting the institute’s strong scientific foundation and high research potential.

In addition, the institute continuously develops international relations to expand academic cooperation, further improve the quality of education and research, and strengthen its position in international rankings.

Throughout its history, Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages has established productive partnerships with more than 70 higher education institutions across over 30 countries worldwide. Its partners include King Sejong Institute, Ball State University, Amity Global Institute, University of Reading, Leeds University, TESOL International Association, University of Francophonie, Virginia Commonwealth University, and many other prestigious educational institutions.

Together with its international partners, the institute successfully implements joint educational programs, Dual Degree programs, faculty and student exchange initiatives, language and cultural centers, and various academic projects. These initiatives provide students and faculty members with opportunities to gain international experience, exchange innovative ideas, and strengthen intercultural cooperation.

Foreign students usually need to submit academic transcripts, proof of language proficiency (often in English or Russian), and a completed application form.

  1. Language of Instruction:

Courses may be offered in Uzbek, Russian, or English, depending on the program. Proficiency in the language of instruction is often required.

  1. Accommodation:

The institute may provide on-campus housing or assist in finding off-campus accommodations.  

  1. Cultural Integration:

Orientation programs are available to help foreign students adjust to the local culture and educational system.

  1. Tuition Fees:

For international students, tuition fees range from 14,000,000 to 20,000,000 UZS per academic year.

Visa Process for International Students

After receiving your official admission letter from the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages, you will need to apply for a student visa to enter Uzbekistan. The visa process is coordinated by the International Cooperation Department to ensure smooth and timely arrangements. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Submit Required Documents
    After confirming your admission, send a scanned copy of your passport (valid for at least 6 months) and a passport-size photo to the International Cooperation Department. These are needed to begin the visa support process.

  2. Receive an Official Invitation Letter
    The Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages will request an official visa invitation letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on your behalf. This process usually takes 10–15 working days.

  3. Apply for a Visa at an Uzbekistan Embassy or Consulate
    Once the invitation letter is issued, you will receive a confirmation. You can then apply for a student visa at the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Uzbekistan in your country. Typically, you will need the following:

    • Your passport

    • Visa application form (available from the embassy or online)

    • Official invitation letter

    • Passport-size photos

    • Visa fee (amount depends on your country of residence)

  4. Arrival and Registration
    After receiving your visa, plan your travel to Uzbekistan. Upon arrival, the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages will assist you with temporary residence registration, which must be completed within 3 days of your arrival.

The institute will provide you with an invitation letter for the visa. You can contact the nearest Uzbekistan embassy.

Step 7: Arrival and Enrollment
Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, submit your original documents and complete the registration process. Assistance will be provided for your adaptation.

International cooperation is one of the key strategic priorities of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages (ASIFL). The institute places special emphasis on enhancing its international reputation, developing education and research in line with international standards, and establishing long-term and effective partnerships with foreign higher education institutions and international organizations.

Through the development of international cooperation, the institute systematically works to promote academic mobility for students and faculty members, study and implement advanced international practices in the educational process, carry out joint research projects, and develop modern academic programs.

Today, Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages maintains active cooperation with more than 70 higher education institutions and international educational organizations across Europe, Asia, and North America. Within the framework of these partnerships, the institute implements numerous promising projects in the fields of education, research, and cultural exchange.

In particular, the institute has signed Memorandums of Understanding with prestigious institutions such as AMITY Global Institute (Singapore), Ball State University (USA), and Virginia Commonwealth University (USA). These agreements provide a foundation for the development of joint academic programs, student and faculty exchange initiatives, expanded research collaboration, and the sharing of international experience.

ASIFL also maintains strong partnerships with leading educational institutions in the United Kingdom, including the Norwich Institute for Language Education, University of Leeds, University of Reading, and University of East Anglia. These collaborations focus on improving foreign language teaching methodologies, enhancing faculty qualifications, introducing modern pedagogical technologies, and integrating international educational standards into the learning process.

In 2023, ASIFL, in cooperation with Jeju Halla University of the Republic of Korea, established the Andijan King Sejong Institute. The establishment of this institute marked an important step toward strengthening educational, scientific, and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, expanding opportunities for learning the Korean language, and promoting intercultural dialogue.

Through the activities of the Andijan King Sejong Institute, students, young people, and members of the wider community are provided with opportunities to study the Korean language, gain deeper knowledge of Korean culture, history, and traditions, and participate in various educational, scientific, and cultural projects. This initiative contributes to strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and elevating educational cooperation to a new level.

Within the framework of international cooperation, the institute regularly organizes student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, international conferences, seminars, roundtable discussions, guest lectures, and professional development programs. These activities enhance the international experience of the academic community and create new opportunities for scientific collaboration.

ASIFL also pays special attention to the development of foreign language learning and international certification systems. To assess students’ language proficiency according to international standards, the institute regularly organizes national and international certification examinations, including IELTS, TOEFL, and GMAT for English, SKA and TOPIK for Korean, HSK for Chinese, as well as certification examinations for other foreign languages.

The introduction of these certification examinations helps improve the foreign language proficiency of students and faculty members, expand their international academic and professional opportunities, and further enhance the quality of education.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE FACULTY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

The Faculty of English Language and Literature of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages is one of the basic faculties of the institute, which took an active part in training thousands of qualified teachers of English language and literature for educational institutions in the period from 1966 to 2010.

Doctor of Philology, Professor S.Rakhimov, Associate Professor G.Satimov woked at the Faculty for many years, and Doctor of Philology, Professor G.Khoshimov, Doctor of Philology V.Vositov, Candidates of Philological Sciences, associate professors: Sh.Alimov, S. Solidzhonov  and others are still continue working ant the faculty.

In 2022, the Faculty of English Language and Literature was created as part of the reorganized Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PD-265, introducing advanced foreign experience in teaching foreign languages into the education system, improving the system of training, retraining and advanced training of highly educated specialists who are fluent in foreign languages, and in order to further expand the system of training philologists, teachers, translators and tour guides in foreign languages. The faculty is headed by Karimov Kamoldin Nasriddinovich as dean.

The faculty has the following three departments:

- English language and literature;

- English language practice;

- Theoretical aspects of the English language.

They employ more than 70 professors. They employ more than 70 professors. 4 of them are Doctors of sciences, professors, 15 candidates of sciences, associate professors.

More than 1700 students study at the faculty in the following areas: 5111400 – foreign language and literature; 60111800 – foreign language and literature (English – full-time) and 70111800-foreign language and literature (English), 70230101-Linguistics (English).

The faculty is focused on organizing education based on modern pedagogical technologies, including the introduction of digital technologies into the educational process, as well as developing students’ independent learning skills, communication skills in learning and teaching foreign languages, and establishing scientific and creative activities; building the scientific and pedagogical potential of the teaching staff; in collaboration with leading foreign educational and research organizations, it is implementing its promising program, based on the criteria for introducing joint educational programs and implementing scientific projects.

The Faculty of “English Philology, Teaching Methods and Translation Studies” of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages ​​was established by the decision of the meeting of the Scientific Council of the institute No. 1 dated August 30, 2022. It is a structural unit of the management structure of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages. The department of “Integrated Course of English Language Teaching” of the faculty is the largest department of the institute, with a total of 58 professors and teachers. 6 of them are foreign professors and teachers.

The department mainly conducts practical classes on “Integrated Course of English Language Teaching”, “Foreign Language Teaching Methodology and Educational Technologies”, “Innovative Pedagogical Technologies of Foreign Language Teaching”, “Foreign Language (English) Teaching Methodology in Preschool Educational Organization”, lectures and seminars on the subjects “Philology and Language Teaching” and “Foreign Language and Literature”. In addition, the department also conducts practical classes on the subjects “Reading and Writing Practice” and “Oral Speech Practice”. During the classes, practical and open lessons are conducted using new pedagogical technologies. 

The scientific potential of the department is 38 percent, 1 professor, 10 associate professors, 2 doctoral students and 45 other professors and teachers are engaged in scientific research. Among the teachers of the department, J. Egamberdiev, A. Musayev, B. Saidov and M. Jalolova have improved their skills at prestigious universities in England. In addition, the senior teacher of the department M. Yakubova has participated in a scientific conference in Turkey.

A total of 16 professors and teachers work in the Department of Guided Touring, Intercultural Communication and Translation Studies.

The department conducts lectures and seminars on the subjects of “Translation Studies”, “Country Studies”, “Local Studies”, History of Translation”, “Intercultural Dialogue”, as well as practical classes on the subjects of “Tourism: Theory and Practice”, “Tourism Law”, “Working with Foreign Delegations”, “Sequential Translation”, “Written Translation”, “Simultaneous Translation”, “Fictional Translation”. During the classes, practical and open lessons are conducted using new pedagogical technologies.

The scientific potential of the department is 38 percent, 1 acting professor, 4 PhDs, 1 doctoral student, 1 independent researcher and 9 professors and teachers are engaged in scientific research. Among the teachers of the department, M. Kasimova has improved her qualifications at universities in England and Kazakhstan, I. Egamberdiyeva at universities in England, and S. Kurbanova at universities in India.

Bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hospitality - covers a complex set of issues related to improving the legal and regulatory framework for organizing small businesses and private entrepreneurship in the tourism sector, organizing entrepreneurial activities of business entities participating in the organization of tourism services in the tourism sector, planning, forming an organizational management structure, analyzing business strategy, developing, organizing, advertising, conducting marketing research on tourism products and auxiliary services in their organization, organizing service activities in tourism business and hospitality entities, segmenting the service market, studying the behavior of consumers of tourism products, managing the activities of tourism entities, analyzing the state of competitiveness, drawing up a program for tourism and hospitality organizations, developing the activities of tourism and hospitality service organizations of various forms of ownership, determining their prospects, professional skills, and leadership abilities.

The faculty was founded in 2022. The faculty has more than 80 professors and teachers in the departments of German language theory and practice, French language theory and practice, Russian language theory and translation studies, general and comparative linguistics, social humanities, pedagogy and psychology, including 3 doctors of sciences, professors, 21 candidates of sciences (PhD), associate professors and more than 50 highly qualified teachers.

A philological school recognized in Uzbekistan has been formed at the faculty. Doctors of Philology, professors such as M.E. Umarkho'jayev, Sh.H. Shakhabitdinova teach students and undergraduates.

More than 40 textbooks and textbooks, more than 20 monographs have been published by the faculty's professors and teachers. The scientific potential of the faculty is 29.11%.

The faculty's professors and teachers have improved their skills by participating in scientific conferences held in foreign universities. In particular, they have undergone advanced training in countries such as Germany, France, and Russia. History of the Master's Department

The Master's Department of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages ​​was established in 2022. In 2022, Satimova Dilafruz No'monjonovna, Candidate of Philological Sciences, worked as the Head of the Master's Department. Since 2023, Kasimova Madina Zaynobidinovna, Candidate of Philological Sciences, has been working as the Head of the Master's Department.

Activities of the Master's Department

The educational process in the Master's program is organized in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Approval of State Educational Standards of Higher Education" No. 343 dated August 16, 2001, the "Regulations on Master's Programs" approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 36 dated March 2, 2015, as well as the curricula and programs of master's programs approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Highly qualified professors and teachers are involved in the training of master's students of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages: academicians, scientists with the scientific degrees of Doctor of Science and Candidate of Science, and professors and associate professors. The bank of topics for master's theses of master's students was created on the recommendation of leading professors and teachers of the Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages, research institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and is a topical topic dedicated to the problems of linguistics and translation studies. Internship by master's students is organized on the basis of the order of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 30.11.2015 No. 9-2015 "On approval of the Regulation on the procedure for internship by master's students of higher educational institutions". The correspondence of teaching to modern technical means and the provision of scientific literature are being established, new achievements of science and technology are being rapidly introduced into the educational process.

Tasks of the Master's Department

The Master's Department operates in two staff units (head of department and methodologist). The Master's Department coordinates the training of masters at the institute, which, together with the departments and deaneries, carries out the following:
•assist in the organization and implementation of the educational process for the training of masters, control over the quality of education and training provided to them; 
•implementation of educational and research work;
•coordinate and control the activities of all faculties for the training of masters; 
•ensures regular monitoring of the training of masters and their future employment, analysis of issues of master's training and regular preparation of reports on them.
