Nuclear power and thermal physics
About the programme
The program aims to train specialists with fundamental physical, mathematical and engineering training, knowledge of the basics of neutron physics and thermophysical processes occurring in nuclear power plants, who are also able to work in the field of installation, commissioning and repair work at nuclear power plants. The duration of full-time education is 4 years.
Field of professional activity: Research and design of promising types of nuclear power plants, including thermonuclear, thermophysical studies of promising fuel rods, fuels, structural materials and heat carriers. Development of models and software complexes for calculating thermohydraulic and neutron-physical processes in the active zones of promising nuclear reactors. Creation and application of installations and systems for conducting thermophysical, nuclear and physical research, nonequilibrium physical processes, propagation and interaction of radiation with objects of living and inanimate nature, ensuring nuclear and radiation safety.
Objects of professional activity: Nuclear reactors, power plants, thermohydraulic and neutron physics processes in the active zones of nuclear reactors, thermal measurements and control, heat carriers, materials of nuclear reactors, nuclear fuel cycle, safety systems, control systems of nuclear physics plants, software complexes for the study of phenomena and patterns in the field of thermophysics and energy, nuclear and thermonuclear reactors, propagation and interaction of radiation with objects of living and inanimate nature, environmental monitoring of the environment, ensuring the safety of nuclear materials, facilities and installations of the nuclear industry and energy. Graduates who have mastered this program have the opportunity to engage in research, organizational and managerial, design, installation and repair activities in research, design and construction organizations, specialized installation and repair organizations.

Theory of heat and mass transfer. Nuclear power plant engineering calculations. Dynamics and safety of nuclear power plants. Thermal measurements.
