About the programme
Linguistics (Uzbek language) is a master’s degree specialization belonging to the field of education “Humanities,” which provides for the training of highly qualified specialists aimed at teaching disciplines related to the Uzbek language and linguistics in higher education institutions, retraining and professional development institutions, and vocational education institutions, as well as carrying out research activities in research institutes, centers, and scientific-production associations of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and working in state and non-state organizations, educational institutions, translation centers, publishing houses, mass media, and fields related to language and culture. This specialization is aimed at developing professional skills and competencies in the scientific analysis of theoretical and practical aspects of the Uzbek language, studying linguistic processes, researching the structure and development of language, and applying modern achievements of linguistics into practice.
Content and curriculum:
During the program, master’s students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in general linguistics, theory of the Uzbek language, phonetics, morphology, syntax, lexicology, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, text linguistics, dialectology, historical linguistics, and methodology of modern linguistic research. They also develop skills in analyzing linguistic data, conducting scientific research, studying the structural and functional features of the Uzbek language, and using modern methods and technologies in linguistics.
Learning outcomes of the program:
After successfully completing the program, graduates are able to carry out teaching activities in higher education institutions, retraining and professional development institutions, and vocational education institutions; conduct research activities in research institutes and centers within the Academy of Sciences system and in higher education institutions; perform scientific analysis of the Uzbek language and linguistic processes; engage in scientific and practical activities in linguistics, translation studies, and text studies; collect, process, and systematically analyze linguistic data; effectively use modern linguistic research methods; plan and implement research work; conduct in-depth analysis of the grammatical and lexical system of the Uzbek language; scientifically study the relationship between language and society; work in state and non-state organizations, educational institutions, publishing houses, and mass media; and develop scientific and practical recommendations aimed at the development of the Uzbek language and linguistics.
