Content and Curriculum

The Master’s program in Linguistics (English Language) belongs to the field of “Humanities” and aims to train highly qualified specialists capable of teaching English language and linguistics-related subjects in higher education institutions, retraining and professional development institutions, and vocational education organizations; conducting scientific research in research institutes, centers, and scientific production associations within the system of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and working in public and private organizations, international institutions, translation centers, mass media, and fields related to foreign languages and intercultural communication.

This specialization focuses on the scientific analysis of theoretical and practical aspects of the English language, the study of linguistic processes, the resolution of translation studies and intercultural communication issues, and the application of modern linguistic achievements in practice.

Content and Curriculum

During the program, master’s students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in general linguistics, English language theory, comparative linguistics, applied linguistics, text linguistics, pragmalinguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, translation studies, discourse analysis, intercultural communication, and modern linguistic research methodology. They also develop skills in analyzing linguistic data, conducting scientific research, studying functional features of the English language, organizing translation processes, and using modern information and communication technologies in linguistics.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

• carry out teaching activities in higher education, retraining, and professional education institutions;
• conduct scientific research in institutes and centers of the Academy of Sciences system and higher education institutions;
• perform scientific analysis of the English language and linguistic processes;
• work in linguistics, translation studies, and intercultural communication;
• collect, process, and systematically analyze linguistic data;
• effectively use modern linguistic research methods;
• organize translation activities and analyze various texts;
• apply scientific and technological advances in linguistics and translation studies;
• evaluate and justify the scientific and practical effectiveness of decisions;
• work in public, private, and international organizations, translation centers, and media;
• develop scientific and practical recommendations for the development of English linguistics.
