About the programme

The Department of “Hydraulic Structures, Soil and Foundations” was established in 1996 based on two major departments: “Hydraulic Structures” and “Soil Mechanics, Soil and Foundations.” These departments had been active since 1946 and 1964 respectively, nurturing prominent scholars and mentors with their own academic traditions. Since 2023, the department has been renamed “Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering.”

Since its establishment, the department has benefited from the contributions of renowned scientists and professors: S.Kh. Abalyans, K.K. Kozokboyev, Kh.Z. Rasulov, and associate professors: N.V. Kokaya, I.M. Ulevaty, S.A. Savelyev, A.N. Teplyakov, A. Qodirov, Z.A. Ashurmatov, K.I. Ibragimov, Kh. Fayziyev, O.I. Khusanhojaev.

Heads of the department included Assoc. Prof. Kh.I. Ibragimov (1991–1996), Prof. Kh.Z. Rasulov (1996–2001), Prof. S. Sayfiddinov (2001–2007), Prof. Kh. Fayziyev (2007–2015), Assoc. Prof. S.M. Narbayev (2015–2016). Since 2016, the department has been led by Assoc. Prof. A.U. Toshkhojayev.

The department collaborates with prestigious international universities such as Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University, and Belarusian National Technical University.
