About the programme
The “Applied Geodesy” Department was established in 1966 and has been operating under the name “Geomatics Engineering” since 2023. The acting head of the department is Dilafruzkhon Usmonovna Tagayeva.
Currently, the department's scientific capacity is 54%. There are 13 faculty members: 1 professor, 6 associate professors, 2 acting associate professors, and 4 assistants. These faculty members have authored various textbooks, teaching aids, methodological guidelines, monographs, and scientific articles related to Geodesy, Cartography, Cadastre, and Geoinformatics.
The department provides education for undergraduate students in the programs 60722500 – “Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre”, 60723300 – “Geomatics Engineering”, and 60721500 – “Geodesy and Geoinformatics”, as well as for graduate students specializing in 70721501 – “Geodesy and Geoinformatics”.
The department’s activities involve establishing geodetic control points and maintaining their records, mapping the Earth's surface and its regions, operating geodetic instruments, acquiring spatial data about surface, subsurface, and space objects, referencing spatial-temporal processes to coordinate-time systems, creating digital terrain models, and collecting and distributing geospatial data for national infrastructure development. It carries out theoretical and practical work on this wide range of tasks.
