Civil engineering

The “Civil Engineering” department was established in 1929 as part of the Central Asian Cotton Irrigation Polytechnic Institute (SAXIPI), where the Republic’s first construction engineers were trained. This marked the beginning of higher education in construction in Uzbekistan.
In 1931, the department became part of the Central Asian Construction Institute, and later part of SazPI and TashPI.
Associate Professor V.N. Neron led the department until 1949, followed by Professor A.B. Ashrabov (1948–1988).
Due to increasing demand for construction engineers in the 1970–1980s, a separate “Building Structures” department was formed in 1972. It was remerged in 1990.
In 1991, two new departments were formed: “Reinforced Concrete and Stone Structures” and “Metal, Wood and Plastic Structures”. These were merged in 1997 into the “Construction Structures” department.
In 2024, it was renamed “Civil Engineering.”
