Program Description
The History program is a key component of the social and human sciences. It focuses on exploring the stages of human societal development and examining political, economic, cultural, and spiritual processes. The program aims to foster in students historical thinking, analytical reasoning, skills in working with primary sources, and the ability to draw evidence-based conclusions. Studying history not only deepens understanding of the past but also enables objective evaluation of the present and insight into future development.
Program Objective
The main goal of the program is to provide students with a comprehensive system of historical knowledge, research methodologies, and analytical tools, preparing specialists capable of independent and critical thinking, with a profound understanding of both national and world history.
Student Competencies
Throughout their studies, students will:
- gain an in-depth understanding of the main stages of Uzbekistan’s and world history;
- master the methods of analyzing, comparing, and interpreting historical sources;
- develop the ability to relate historical processes to current social realities.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the four-year program, graduates are awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of History. They may work as history teachers, researchers, museum specialists, archivists, analysts, and other professionals in social, educational, and cultural institutions.
Graduates will:
- be able to read, translate, and analyze historical sources;
- acquire solid knowledge in Uzbekistan’s history, world history, philosophy of history, historiography, archaeology, and ethnology;
- gain proficiency in using information technologies for historical research.
Curriculum Structure
During the first and second years, students study general and foundational courses such as Philosophy, Religious Studies, Pedagogy and Psychology, and Foreign Language.
In the third and fourth years, they take specialized courses including History of Uzbekistan, World History, Archaeology, Special Historical Disciplines, Historical Geography, History of World Civilizations, Digital History, Eastern Languages, History of Science and Technology, Ethnology, History of International Relations and Diplomacy, Regional History, Methods of Teaching History, Administrative Monuments of Uzbekistan, Historical Routes of Uzbekistan, History of Uzbek Statehood, and Modern History of Uzbekistan.
Theoretical learning is complemented by practical training, including internships in archives and museums.
Postgraduate Opportunities
Graduates may continue their education:
- in master’s programs in History, Historiography, Archaeology, Ethnology, Cultural History, or History Teaching Methodology;
- as teachers of “History” and “Civic Education” in general secondary schools;
- as professional tour guides at historical and cultural sites;
- or as researchers and academic staff in research institutes, museums, archives, and universities.
