The academic program “Philology and Language Teaching: Uzbek Language” is a field of study within education and social services. It is designed to develop national linguistics, define its future prospects, cultivate professional skills, and foster managerial abilities, encompassing a comprehensive set of methods and approaches necessary for effective professional activity.
This program is one of the most prestigious in the field of philology, and Uzbekistan has been training specialists in this area for over 100 years.
Program Objectives
The program aims to provide students with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas: Modern Uzbek literary language, History of the language, Linguistic theory, Literary studies, History and theory of literature, and Modern literary processes.
It prepares highly qualified philologists capable of effectively contributing to various sectors of society.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the four-year undergraduate program, graduates receive a diploma as a specialist in Uzbek language and literature.
Graduates may continue their education in master’s programs in over 10 different specializations.
Undergraduate Curriculum
- Years 1–2: Students study foundational courses such as Official Language Practices, Linguistic Theory I, Literary Studies Theory I, Modern History of Uzbekistan, Normal Physiology, and others.
- Years 3–4: Students focus on advanced philological courses including Comparative Literary Studies, Modern Uzbek Literary Language, World Literature, Uzbek Folklore, Uzbek Dialectology, and others.

After completing the undergraduate program, graduates may pursue careers in the following areas:
- Research activities: text analysis and interpretation, preparation of educational regulatory documents, study of modern pedagogical technologies, and educational technical tools;
- Cultural and educational activities;
- Pedagogical activities: teaching in general secondary schools, academic lyceums, and vocational colleges;
- Organizational and managerial activities: working in educational institutions and administrative roles;
- Scientific research: conducting studies in academic and research institutions;
- Consultancy: ensuring compliance with legislation on the state language;
- Media: working as journalists or content editors in mass media;
- Publishing: working as editors in publishing houses.
