Design is an artistic expression of the world, and designer is a modern and relevant profession today. The Department of "Clothing Design" was opened in 2008 as a new creative department, and since 2015 the department has been named "Costume Design". The teaching concept takes into account all the modern requirements for a fashion and design specialist, and the design project activity is based on a new methodology. During the study, the student will learn drawing and painting, creative graphics, composition, costume design and technology, computer design, and fashion management and marketing. Starting from the first year, students solve creative problems aimed at developing their creative thinking and practical skills. The demand in the labor market for graduates who have the ability to use computer programs well in the process of creating modern design projects and clothing collections is increasing.

The department has great scientific and creative potential. 24 professors and teachers, including 5 professors, 5 associate professors, 3 doctors of science, 4 candidates of science, PhD and 7 senior teachers, 6 of them are members of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, are participating in the training of highly qualified personnel. zola. All professors and teachers conduct active creative and project work together with their pedagogical activities and regularly improve their professional skills. Involvement of highly qualified specialists, practicing designers in the design and fashion industry in the educational process guarantees the training of high-quality specialists with the ability to work independently, effectively and creatively in modern industrial enterprises, small businesses, and their ability to engage in personal work and creative activities. . The team of the department is from many foreign higher education institutions: London College of Fashion of the University of the Arts London, Lancashire Central University (Great Britain), Paris International Fashion Academy, Lycée La Martiner Didiro (France), Polytechnic University of Milan (Italy), Germany International cooperation society (GIZ, Germany), have been in creative contact with the universities of China, Russia and Kazakhstan in the fields of education, science and creative activities. In the framework of international cooperation projects, teachers and students have the opportunity to improve their skills abroad; students perform creative works in cooperation and participate in master classes of foreign designers.

Participation in contests. One of the important elements of increasing students' motivation and showing their creativity is their participation in the competition of young designers. Preparation for competitions under the guidance of teachers becomes an integral part of the educational process. Students of the department are actively participating in the cultural life of the Republic, and have been receiving awards at international exhibitions and competitions of young designers. The creative circle of Fashion Incubator, which operates under the department, is well known not only in the Republic, but also in many foreign countries. Every year, the number of students participating in the "Tashkent fashion week" and "Uzbekistan fashion week", "Bolajonal-Shirintoy" children's fashion festival and "Khon Atlas Day" festival, which are organized annually in our republic, and their creative works are highly appreciated. .
