UrSU and Istanbul University: A New Strategic Phase of Cooperation
The Acting Rector of UrSU met with Istanbul University leadership to finalize plans for faculty training in 2026, the launch of a Turkish Philology program, and joint STEAM initiatives.
During a meeting between S. Khodjaniyazov, Acting Rector of Urgench State University, and Prof. Nergiz Dağoğlu Sakin, Vice Rector of Istanbul University, the parties agreed to elevate their partnership, which began in 2023. Key initiatives include sending 15 UrSU faculty members to Istanbul for professional development in 2026 and inviting 10 IU professors to lecture at UrSU. Discussions also focused on opening a new Bachelor’s program in Turkish Philology by the 2026-2027 academic year, developing joint degrees in STEAM and Food Technology, and hosting the "Third Uzbekistan-Turkey Historians Meeting" conference.
